I have a stock 2001 dc sb. I want to get the best offroading tires I can. What are the best ones to get? Does it depend on the terrain?
Thanks in advance to all the knowledgeable enthusiasts out there!

Could probably fit 265/75r16 as well

He wants the best off road tire and you list the BFG's? I am guessing if they were asking for the best street they would also be recommended? The fan boy is strong with this tire...

Someone had suggested the KO2s to me. would be an upgrade from the BFG 265 70 R16s on there now...
Those super swamper boggers look like the tires on my neighbor's 4wd tractor!

You need to do some more reading about tires. Everyone has their opinions.. And that's it,, opinions. Every terrain is different, while a tire may be great in one terrain, its terrible in another. You should also consider how much the vehicle is actually used off road. If its 95% street driven, then you don't need a truly off road tire. You likely should be looking at ALL TERRAIN tires.. Better road manners, while still performing off road in certain conditions. And then you still have just a whole bunch of opinions. Do some research and do some reading. Good luck

The terrain I will be in most is loose dirt and rocks. mud when it gets wet. what do you suggest reading? I have only seen manufacturer descriptions...

 I guarantee you I use them enough off-road to know what I'm talking about, probably more than you ever do. But carry on.

Someone needs to create a t-shirt or something that says "I had KO2s before bros thought they were cool and before even bigger bros thought they were too bro"

the bottom line is, many of us have to drive a lot of highway to do some dirt, and KO2's are an excellent compromise tire for this. if this truck is a pure dirt only truck, then you'd want all out knobbies such as super swampers, but tires like these are awful on pavement (loud, lousy traction, fast wear).

I'll admit I didn't know he was looking for a tire for 100% off-road use, most people looking for an off-road capable tire also want something that can handle at least some street driving. But if we're talking about a dedicated trail rig then yeah, get something purely for dirt/mud that would feel and ride terrible on pavement lol.

I agree kinda. Super swamper boggers are best used/designed for mud bogging and the swamps. A dedicated off road/trail tire would be something like the the Kevlar mtr's or similar versitile tire.

    Swampers by definition: Overview

The Super Swamper Bogger is built primarily for the professional mud Bogger. The tire is versatile, D.O.T. approved and street legal. Easy to modify for the cut, open, and pro stock classes. A new design for a new generation of competition performance. With its unmistakable looks, the Super Swamper Bogger gives any vehicle a distinctive look.

You are going to hear so many different suggestions it might drive you nuts. I have had the Goodyear Duratracs, I liked those. I have had BFG KM2s, liked them off road not so much on road. Right now I have Toyo AT2s. So far a great all around tire. Most of the people I wheel with out here are running Toyo. A good amount are also running KO2s. As far as size goes I would suggest 265/75r16 if you are not worried about doing a little trimming.

He is new to tw. That will soon change lol.
Sorry was not really referring to his truck per-se, just to a popular/good trail tire as example.

I should have said that I am looking for the best off road tire that I can also use on the road. Most of the time I will be in the mountain trails where I live but do need to go into town sometimes and occasionally on road trips . someone said it earlier - sometimes we have to drive to where we go offroading...
