Like insulation for the whole bed area? Or bag like storage bag?

That's quite the project. What's the purpose of it? Just to make cold nights more enjoyable? Or something else?

Yeah, I need 8 identical sides. I am guessing that as long as I start sewing along the base of the tent, it doesn't matter a whole lot if the top doesn't match. I'll have to cut the top off to sew in the reinforcement cone.

I have a good hot knife that could cut all the pieces at once too.

Took a few hours today to make these. Just a simple 2 layer toy. I am going to try to sell them locally at $7 for the small ones and $10 for the big ones. If I can do it, I'll basically break even on my fabric purchase. I still have quite a bit of fabric left as well. Might be able to make another 6-10

Finally got steel and got my rack mod done (curved piece on the top corners for even tension). Now I can start putting it together! Loving it so far.

One last progress pic. Tomorrow should more or less be the finished product. Just gotta add the tensioning bungees.

Wow, at first glance you wouldn't know how much stitching went into those. Nice work!

Every 1/2"! But it's all straight lines, it goes fast. Took me about 2 hours each, once I get a little practice it's only about 90 minutes. Haven't had my machine running in about 8 months so....

A new project/idea was born when my gym bag finally started to bust at the seams. It was a simple sack backpack that I got for free and lasted longer than expected. It barely fit 2 pairs of shoes, a shirt and shorts.

I had a chunk of dyneema gridstop that won't be used for the the tipi and it was just enough.

The idea is to create a bag that is expandable. It will open up to lay flat and then secure with webbing and buckles (basically sandwiching the items inside). Very similar to a design kifaru has for one of their packs.

It will feature a carrying handle, removable straps and the ability to connect to my everyday school pack.

I love it, can't wait to see what you come up with.

I guess I have been holding out because I wanted to get some nice action shots of the topper in the snow and outdoors but last time I made it out I forgot. So I'll just release the one pic I have of the topper done. Eventually I'll do a little more in-depth pics and stuff, but suffice it to say right now that this thing is amazing and so useful. Having side access to get crap from the bed without having to open the swingout/tailgate/backflap/crawling in is just the most convenient thing ever. It opens up space in the cab too cause I don't have to keep my recovery gear in there. Maybe in the summer I could even move the fridge back there!

That came out great! How does it handle the wind going down the highway?

Thanks man! Absolutely 0 movement at all. The bungees keep it really taught. Due to how I did the steel, using 1.5x.125" flat bar on top of the tubing making up a kinda mitered curve, the fabric sits that 1/8" above the tubing and it's like a drum. I'm a little worried about how the elastic works in the cold, it's -8 before windchill (-30ish with) today, hopefully it'll get elastic again when it's warm.

I really need to do some light strips on the inside of each flap so I can have light anywhere I go.

More thoughts, how will the fabric stain? How will it handle being stabbed and scraped by tree branches? The tonneau cover material did surprisingly awesome, we'll see about this, I'm confident it'll hold up.
