But it was only a few donuts...

We had some good snow here the past couple of days, so on the way home, I found an empty parking lot with untouched snow, turned the traction control off, and did a few donuts (2WD)... nothing too crazy.

Later this evening, I'm driving, and now I get a pretty decent low amplitude shake/shimmy at about 55mph. Could I have warped something?

You might have some snow packed in the wheels That might throw the tire balance off. others will post if there is something i am missing. hope it helps

I would say it's not likely but you certainly could have tweeked something. ANythings possible. I've done many snowy donuts without penalty. Did you check for ice built up in a wheel that would cause a tire imbalance?

yea i think he wants to know too but somebody said when they had their tires full of mud they had the same symptoms as you did

 

*Lots* of snow in the wheels... it's already melting out. I'll give it a test go in the morning.

 

If it's not packed snow you may have tossed a wheel weight. Re balance would be my next step. Unless you bumped a curb or speed bump all should be fine, and donuts are fun and encouraged in the right/legal situations.

donuts only make cops wobble! #1 after any kind of wheeling. Car Wash!! not only for a 4 point check of the underside, it will keep any mud, road salt from getting baked on and rusting things. if you ever strip an old 4x4 you can see what the build up can do to the underside. after it is dried on for just a day or two it is hard to come off. think of it as brushing your teeth.

Had this very same thing happen to me yesterday. Truck was shaking like crazy. Got home and noticed ice/snow had frozen inside my wheel. Cleaned it out with a water hose, pulled in the garage and it's back to normal. Now I can skate in my driveway.
P.S. I cut a few donuts as well, no harm done.

 

Same thing happened to me the first time mine saw the mud, I was freaking out. After I removed the 18 pounds of mud from the wheels, it was back to riding like a champ.
