Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I was wheeling this weekend and damaged the trailer plug adapter under the bumper. Anyone know of an aftermarket adapter that works with the factory harness? I want to mount the new one in the bumper near the license plate light.

I did the same thing to mine. Got a $20 plug from an auto parts place and re-wired it to the harness from the factory plug. Really easy. The factory replacements are well north of $100.

I don't have it on the truck- it's sitting in my garage. I'll take a pic when I get home.

They sell one at auto zone. I thought about buying one that has both style plugs like some of the newer trucks.

Any mod days coming up? I know some of you are boosted and I have a supercharger, fuel pump, and pulley I'd like to install. I'm pretty sure I can tackle it myself, but I've never done serious work on my truck before and I don't want to screw it up. I've got the tools, including a charcoal BBQ and beer, if anyone is available to give me a hand with the install.

Yeah my dad has a Ford with both style plugs. The shape makes it difficult to cut cleanly into the bumper, but maybe I'll pass and just mount it under the bumper again.

Ive seen people removing on of the license plate lights and mounting the trailer plug there. I think it may take a little trimming, but then its out of the way at least

Thats what I did. took 2 minutes. Used the left license plate light hole and two self tapping screws for the factory harness. Should be easy to do with an aftermarket one as well.

Yeah that's what I want to do, but the ones that have both styles (7 round and 4 flat) have a different shape to them. I wish they had one I could cut in with only a hole saw.

From my build thread, my solution:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ironpeaks-forest-road-cruiser-build.460682/page-3#post-13665237
Trailerplug relocation. after smashing my trailer plug, I decided to relocate it. the oem part is an absurd 150$+, so I found this Hopkins 7 round and 4/5 flat for 25$. take into consideration you don't need to purchase a standalone 7-4flat adapter and the price becomes negligible. if you are reading this and still have your trailer plug in the oem position, I recommend moving it, even if it means zip-tieing it up out of the way.
