Instead of starting a new topic...

Can you guys tell me what would be a good set of UCA's for my 2011 TX PRO? I was going to order the Tuff Country ones but I don't believe they will work... It says "excluding TRD Pro" on the order page.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have a tuff country lift currently on your ride? Im not too familiar with UCAs in coordination of a drop bracket lift, but for extended coilovers people tend to use them. If there are no issues with your lift set up, I would recommend total chaos personally as they are pretty robust and function quite well.

No, I have recently installed Toytec lift springs with the Billy 5100's, and I feel like I would see improvement in the highway ride with new ones. There aren't any issues... But I also know the stock UCA's are lacking in overall strength and I don't want to get stranded because I tried to cheap out and not finish the job to begin with. LOL

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Honestly if you have the toytec stuff I would assume you can probably go with any UCA. I assume tuff country has your interest as it might be cheaper than say camburg and TC? Depending on your location if you deal with a lot of salt on the roads in the winter time, the light racing UCAs are very durable and have some of the best adjustability for a UCA and are around $400ish in terms of price.

Also the UCA's tend to help alleviate angles on your suspension and can correct alignments where the stock UCA becomes limited. I myself have extended King resi's with the stock UCAs as I don't have them cranked up or anything. If your Toytecs give you about 2.5-3 inches of front height, then UCAs will def help balancing that geometry out. Im sure other suspension junkies can elaborate further than I can about the positive aspects on UCAs. As far as strength, I doubt your stock UCAs will have any issue unless you got airborne off a jump or something crazy like that.

Thanks for your input! I don't do a lot of off-roading... but I also don't want to put any unnecessary stress on the stock UCA's. The springs are just supposed to be 1.6" of lift... but I was wanting to put my 5100 shocks up a notch or two if that was ok to do?

Others will probably chime in here, but I think as long as you don't exceed the 2.25 inch mark on your front height then I think you should be fine. Some on here wont even consider UCAs unless they hit 3 inches of height in the front. You can always take a look as well on the inside of your UCAs and see if there are any rub marks from contact between the coils and the UCAs. If there isn't, and your alignment is solid then you should be good!

    @11TX_PRO i have stock coils
Stock uca and 5100x4 fronts set at .85 to level the truck and have 0 issues with alignment or anything .I off road as much as possible and I went out to Johnson Valley this last weekend how to beat it up a little bit not too bad going through some whoops and it still drives straight.I can let go of the wheel on the freeway and go for quite a ways before some rain slope or something like that makes the truck move a little.

It's starting to sound like I may not need to invest in the UCA's then. I was just not wanting to miss something that needed to be done. I had read somewhere that "if you do ANY lift to these trucks that you should just go ahead and do the UCA's as well". Evidently that's not the case as many of you have said. You know how long the 5100's are supposed to last by chance?

I think you got the right mentality. If you were to order a new set of coilovers that are extended, many retailers will tell you that they were designed for aftermarket UCA's, but unless you reach a certain height then you would be fine anyway. I would hold out on the UCAs unless your front end plans change.

That all depends on how rough you are on the suspension and going over speed bumps and stuff like that. I know people that have gotten more than a hundred thousand miles out of them before they needed replacing, hell i got 85000 miles out of my stock TRD suspension the blue and yellow ones.

    Hey,

Lurker on TW for a while however, decided to finally start posting after I decided to stick with my Gen 2 2011 TX-Pro instead of taking the plunge into a Gen 3 TRDOR. Was wondering what type of lift y'all were putting on your Pro models I'm stuck between: Icon, Fox, and OME (Res or Non). I really don't wheel that much. I've been reading up for months on TW about lifts just can't come to the conclusion to which one I want for this truck. Seems like every time i'm about to pull the trigger I read a an array of negative comments about one or the other. UCA's... That's another question too LR or go all out with TC or Camburgs.

**Trying to stay under or at 2 total price**

I assume when you mean a lift like a coilover in the front and a new leaf pack in the rear? How much lift are you trying to achieve? As far as resi's they are made to help keep the heat in the shocks down so that they never experience what is called shock fade. This is a definition of it...A condition where loss of dampening action occurs because of fluid foaming inside a shock absorber. The rapid oscillations of the piston moving through the fluid churns it into foam, which reduces the amount of resistance encountered by the piston. This means eventually your shocks can lose their resistance inside causing them to never get stiff to some degree anymore and have a permanent blown out feel to them. Having resi's helps alleviate of this occuring by a good amount. With UCAs TC and camburg are both nice, people will choose TC over burg as it has a nice clear powder coat finish that many like. The light racing can be ideal as it doesnt have uniballs so it is more resistant to wear and also is the most adjustable of the three by a good extent. If you were to get coils and if you only want to achieve with 2-2.5 inches of height in the front with extended coilovers, you most likely wont need UCAs as they help to adjust your camber when you increase height with a coilover as the closer you get to three inches. As you approach three inches, the angles on your steering will start to get tight and make it hard to have a straight alignment. The UCAs help to correct this. What do you want to use your truck for offroad wise?

Yes, Coilcovers in the front and a AAL with some rear shocks as well. I'm looking for a 2.5-3inch lift total. My wallet says get the full OME non res but my heart say get the fox or icons.... The wheeling I do is at LBL (Light roads at the moment) and some farm work other than that its a daily driver.

Got ya, I guess it depends on how much you really care about suspension? Coilovers will feel much nicer for anything on road and off, but they are more costly. Nice thing though is you could get the coils first and then crank them down to no lift until you decide what to do with the rear. I have heard decent things about OME stuff, but most of my friends start out with that and then slowly swap it out in the long run. At the same time though, they also wheel to some extent too.
