^^^ that... ftw. Then you will be back freaking out cause the truck doesn't "see" the new sensors. You need to push the reset button on the dash by your left knee, then take truck for a ride at highway speeds - over 70mph and vola like magic.

Problem the steelies and the aluminum wheel sensors and rims are shaped different. 2 seperate part numbers... get the aftermarket sensor that fits a 16/17 TRD Sport or OR.

Probably won't pass inspection without these if the light is on and your state has a safety inspection. just sayin....

....and apparently too stupid to check if their TPMS are universal. It's like ranting because you installed some high-priced cold air intake but it won't use OEM air filters. :notsure:

Yep. New vehicles suck. This one included. Traction control is also ghey. I miss my 91 4runner.

So were you also mad when you found out the lugs from your steel wheels also wouldn't work?

I got the lug nuts from the 4runner with the Wheels. The correct sensors would have been quite expensive if I tried to have them installed today instead of waiting for shipping, and I don't get many days off to get tires mounted, so the sensors incompatibility issue was a matter of convenience. Maybe this was the wrong crowd to whine to. This is my first vehicle with tpms, so I didn't think about it. It's dumb to me because I check my tired pressure occasionally and have never needed a light on the dash to remind me. I'm done whining, and done defending myself for whining. I was pissed for literally 10 minutes, and thought you guys may get a kick out of it.

Not true. As mentioned earlier, the steel wheels sensors will work on alloy rims if you turn them 180 degrees. I made the wheel change 6 months ago and I'm glad I had the sensors. 2 months ago, I was driving to Dallas, and suddenly my tire light came on. I was pretty close to a town, so I took the next exit, stopped to see which tire was leaking, and was able to make my way to a tire store a mile away for repair.

    Reserected from the dead.
The sensors are not a safety feature. Their primary function is to save gas. The safety feature is a bonus. If Toyota can claim that the corporate fuel economy is xxx, and they can guarantee it, they get a a break from the EPA.

I refuse to put any faith in the TPMS system. If I can keep my winter tires on all winter, and keep my summer tires and rims with the sensors stored in the garage 10 feet from my truck, yet the light does not go on, how good can the system be?

I think I'll just rely on the old fashioned meathod of visual and pressure checks. If I'm spending $6 bills on tires, I think I can check the tires every time I run the truck.

Gosh, I'm sick and tired of Toyota catering to the lowest common denominator of stupid Americans with these trucks. The fuel gauge is totally unnecessary, and on top of that, it's an eyesore! I can track my miles since my last fillup just fine, thank you. The dang thing takes up all kinds of space in the gauge cluster that could be used for something more important, like yet another lcd screen, or a gauge that reminds me of how huge my big stupid chrome grill is.

Check it out, BRO, BFG Mall-Terrains!
I sure hope my half-assed backward tpms sensors piss some of you off!
I'll probably forget and break them in a few years when dismounting my worn out bro-tires, haha.
