Actually it might be more likely that I build something different as a dedicated trail rig. The Taco is an excellent compromise vehicle but if I didn't need it for occasional hauling and packing gear around for long distance trips I would probably go with something smaller. DCLB is tight on a lot trails, and even tighter with the width of a D60.

I'm actually about the same width as a Dana 60 with 40's. but dclb doesn't help for sure.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it so I'm sorry

You guys are quickly defeating all of my anti-SAS thoughts. Too bad I are so broke.

Has anyone been able to maintain stock ABS and traction control stuffs with a Dana 60?

I don't like ABS and don't have traction control so it works for me. Sr5 ftw

I should have gotten an sr5. The only thing left from my Sport is the grill surround and bed outlet. Live and learn.

I wonder if I can make a front Tundra diff work. IFS ride on the highway but a lot stronger in the rocks. Would be cool with a +2 LT kit. ARB air locker available for them. Sounds like a project that's out of my league but would be a pretty sweet weekend warrior build.

lol, yeah cost for conversion is pretty high. Doing it yourself can save you a bunch of money but likely still in the 10k range in just parts alone.

I never cared for ABS, its too overwhelming for when you really need it and would be better off just locking up the tires. When I wheeled with Brian/dakota and others last year coming down a hill my brakes locked up the entire way down and thankfully the guys in front of me didn't stop otherwise I would have gave someone a good love tap. Atleast without ABS I could have pumped the brakes and just locked the tires up and let them dig into the deeper snow

Only time traction control saves me is on the highway in snow covered roads at speed, usually when it kicks on I just use it as a signal to switch over to 4wd

Is the tundra 8.5 in the front? RCV axles will help but with a solid axle you'll have more travel, with more travel your tires will stay on the ground more so you will have more traction. More traction, less wheel spin, less wheel spin = less chance of breaking shit.

This is why I'd like to retain those systems. Not that I can't do without.. but I've gotten used to having the extra tools and I like them. Plus the TRAC is nice. And if you have an ABS off switch mod you can pick when you feel like having the ABS related driving aides and when you want it oldschool.

Yeah I've been meaning to do the ABS kill switch. Need to find a decent how to and get it done before I leave

From what I've read the 5.7L Tundra's have what they call a 9" front. But it measures about 8.7"

    What year/configuration is your truck?
I think so too. If a donor truck could be found the rear 10.5" might be a cool upgrade too. Keeping things Toyota would probably make ABS retention easier too.

Nope. Id sooner buy a dedicated trail rig than pull apart a 2015 Tacoma. :)
