Why is it such a shock that some one wants to go faster and gain some HP?

I didn't buy my truck to win the Dayton 500, but maybe the 250.

You really think that a cat back exhaust is gonna increase your hp?

Don't want to waste money on something that gives you nothing? If you like sound and looks then more power to you. That's why I'm asking

It's all about those gains, bro. Because you can't really see a CAI or CBE, the reason is gain in horse power. If either of them were visible, they would say they do it for the vanity... I mean horse power gains

Cobb OTS (off the shelf) maps were always very conservative. Ain't nothin' wrong with that, in fact it's quite wise for them to have done it that way so no one throws a rod and gets butthurt. Worked great for me, never felt like I needed any extra.

DINGDINGDING... of course this is the one thing everyone forgets. The Transmission shift points? Yeah, those are part of the programming too!

You can't tell me that there's NOT a market for people wanting a better shifting AT.

OTS maps are sus lol I never took the risk. Too many of my friends blew their motors. I suppose it comes down to a variable of factors - luck included.

You're kidding yourself if you think a CAI and exhaust won't increase hp and tq... come on bro. Until they make a s/c for this motor (if ever) it'll have to do.

I ran the trd version of both of those on my last taco and loved it. Nothing wrong with a little sound and mild hp/tq increase + fuel economy.

I'm honestly surprised to hear that. The process to test was pretty straightforward. Load a map for your mod level and gas grade. Leave the AP hooked up and log the DAM (Dynamic Advance Multiplier) and Boost. Hit a few 3rd gear WOT pulls, watch your boost gauge and pay attention for any obvious signs of distress. If your boost is hitting target and not creeping, refer to DAM. If DAM is ever ANY value except 1, load a different map.

Literally, that's all it takes to make sure your map is safe. Your DAM would immediately start wigging out (going to <1) on a bad map, and target boost is target boost, pretty easy to see/hear creep and surge.

Sounds like maybe your friends are dumbasses. (kidding, kidding...:p:cheers: )
I honestly hadn't heard of an OTS map that was properly tested blowing a motor though. I have, however seen people running the wrong map and nuking their block. When asked "did you test the OTS map?" their response is ":notsure:" which usually translates to "I just loaded a stage 2 93oct map on a car without supporting mods and ran 91oct in it. If 17 PSI is target, 21 PSI surging to 23 @ redline is even better, right? That loud coughing TSU-TSU-TSU and almost stalling between shifts is baller!":bananadead:
