I agree with all of these...
    1. The brakes are too weak and most of us run 17" wheels, so more powerful braking, drums or disc..
    2. Get a dang dipstick on the trans...
    3. Better convenience lighting. Did they light all the switches on the 3rd gen? Like the 4 wheel drive switch????????????
    Plus I'll add a few...
    1. More power as an option... The 3.5 is ok for a daily driver and overlanding but not enough for towing and heavy off roading and truck people like power, meaning torque just give it to us... A bigger engine will probable get close the same MPG anyway...
    2. A Trail version, I want the off road pkg and a hood scoop.... I don't care I like it.....
    3. Do something about that grill, tone it down
    4. More frame clearance for big tires..
    5. optional rear gears both more and less...
    6. selectable economy mode...
    7. Adjustable seats, for long trips...
    8. Nose is too long....
    9. heated wiper rest, better vents and heated side mirrors, a winter package...
Overall the Tacoma is really good but I think with a few tweaks and a few more options could make it much better for everyone....

Overall love the truck and the way it drives.

1 more steering wheel adjustment. I just want it to come closer to me.
    2 adjustable lower seat cushions.
3 some kind of handle for the driver.
4 more cushioning for the seat bottom.
5 the window switches hit my left knee while driving. May need some fabric to soften the surface.
    6 better offline acceleration.
    7 everything else is great.
    8 looks great
    9 great in the mud.
    That's about it.

Rear disk brakes dont last nearly as long as drums, most vehicles on the road today avg about 70% front 30% rear braking. Drum brakes can last easily 75,000 to 100,000 miles and keep out dust and dirt. They are definitely not outdated , just look at any tractor trailer they use drum brakes on the rear of the tractor and trailer, there more robust and last much longer than disk. This is such a myth about drums.

Lowering and raising the rear seat bothers me the most. Taking the headrest off, putting it back on, making sure the belt buckle is underneath the seat when seat is in place. Drives me nuts!
    For me BETTER REAR SEATS

Large Over the Road Trucks use Drum Brakes because they air actuated with Compressed Air and are less expensive. I don't think anyone was saying Drum Brakes are bad, more that Toyota just cheaped out by still using them.

I bought a Frontier for the time being.

    4.0L (torque!)
    Fully boxed frame
    Seat height adjustment
    Rear disc brakes
    Heated mirrors
    265/75R16 ATs with matching spare
    Glove box light (lol)

Toyota needs to work on the small details in the Tacoma. The 4runner is a good example of what they are capable of.

I agree with you re: the fake scoop--don't like fake stuff. It started in the 7th grade when I took a girl name Marcia to a double feature and we sat in the back of the balcony...

But everyone insists on ripping off the air dam!

No seriously, the reason the Colorado gets better MPG is because it's so much lower:
    Now look at the Taco:

Draw an imaginary line from the front wheel center cap forwards. See the difference? That difference is where all your MPG gains come from.

It also happens to kick your offroading capability in the dick.:mudding:

There is some form of howling that comes from the rear axle housing between 40-60mph. It is heard on the affected vehicles when feathering the throttle at those speeds. The sound ranges from faint to outright loud. Apparently it affected a significant number of 2016-2017 Tacomas.

OP. Don't hold your breath on improvements. Take-it-or-leave-it is Toyota's policy these days...

I think it's funny how people will make a 4 page thread on a question that a TROLL has. Another troll posting, 40 people reply, troll never says anything again. Christ....

Exactly. Lets see Toyota limit the front end length and then hear everyone bitch how there is no room for front end accessories.

Not at all, Drums are less expensive, that is what I meant by cheap. Toyota follows Kiazen which is constant cost reduction.

but when you call them cheap, you are saying they are bad. At least that's my perception. You know when you get pissed at something, right before you throw it, you yell "That fucking cheap piece of shit"

But seriously, when you say something is cheap, you are saying its not good.

Now yes, its less expensive to use drums, but to really think that yota did this to say a few bucks, naw I don't think so. wouldn't they do this to more of thier vehicles if that was the case?
