Came across this Black Friday deal: $279 American Tactical 5.56 AR style rifle. Made by "American Tactical?" I've never heard of the company but they're based in Summerville, SC. Anyone hear of this company before?
An LEO friend bought two. My dad (already has an MP15 and 2 Ruger Mini-18s) was tempted to go pick up one for each of us. I passed. The lower is plastic. The thing was like 5.5 lbs and felt like the toy M-16 I had as a kid. There was no mass to this gun. No front & rear sights. Did have dust cover and forward assist. Came with 30 rd mag and a lock. 1:7 twist. Looked like a pawnshop toy. My dad said "even if you added sights, grips, etc, you'd still come in under the price of an M&P 15." I told him I'd hold off and wait until I had the $ for the M&P 15.

I looked up three reviews. It sounds like what I would expect for a $279 AR.

    Two
    Three

Yeah, I read a couple reviews Friday morning and the consensus was NOPE. It's like buying a budget level guitar. Sure, it looks the part and sounds decent, but the most important components are low-grade and will not last a lifetime. As much as I want to get into the AR game, I want to do it right (same reasoning for buying my Gibson Les Paul Gold top some years back). Now I'm hoping my dad didn't buy me one of these as a Christmas gift.

Hell yeah, I jumped into a $1200 LMT right out of the gate on my first one , and don't regret it one bit.

I support your plan. Save up and get something decent. As long as you aren't behind enemy lines quality AR's should be plentiful and affordable for some time.

For most safes you don't even need a dolly. Even 1000lb safes. If It's not bolted down, it's easy to tip up and put a moving blanket underneath. One person can easily move a 500lb safe by themselves as long as it's on the same floor. Two people can easily move a safe over 1000lbs with a blanket. Super easy to tip it into a truck bed also. You'd be surprised how fast it can be done, especially when the thieves know where it is before hand. The cheaper safes are very easy to open with a crow bar, especially if the thief knows what kind of safe you have before hand.

I've helped people move safes and they are always surprised how easy it can be done. You only have to be able to lift a small percentage of the weight of the safe and they tip and slide easily unless they are extremely heavy.

I keep my safes where most people will never see them. I make sure anyone I don't personally know who is in my home never sees them. Your FedEx/HVAC/yard guy may not be the thief, but he may supply the thief with info. Don't help them out. Take a few minutes to bolt it down and keep it out of sight.

Usually, if it doesn't have a name on it. That generally means that nobody wants to claim responsibility for it. Reputable gun company are proud to put there name on there parts.( A general rule of thumb in the gun world) that doesn't mean necessarily that it's junk, but you're getting what you're paying for

What's the key to carry appendix? I have a Taurus 85 and a Ruger SR40.
The 85 doesn't print much, just about anywhere I have the holster, but I don't carry appendix or "in front" on my waistline. The Ruger prints pretty damn bad unless I'm wearing a buttoned shirt or hoodie or jacket, but I'd like to carry it more in summer months too.
Just want to know what I'm missing about comfortably carrying a pistol near my junk lol! Don't have a big gut either by any means, 6'1" and about 170lbs

what part of the gun is printing? is there a way to adjust the kant in the holster so it angles differently and doesn't stick out as much? they may some "wings" that attach to holster, that push against the waste of your pants and hold the gun closer to your body. I also wear dark cloths, it helps hide a bunch of lines. the only time I really print is when I'm hunched over in a chair the end of my handle pokes past my side a bit but its not noticeable if I wear a large shirt instead of a medium (6'2 175lb so I assume we are about the same build.

The Ruger is what prints. Never had anyone tell me they see the Taurus.

It's usually the grip that prints. Carrying in Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 2.0 IWB holster, Fully adjustable, but still prints

I can carry the revolver around 4 o'clock. Have to carry the Ruger nearly small of the back, but it's considered 'full-size'

this may be an option, they have a "2.0" version not sure what its called but it actually works with no belt if need be, the only down side I see with this is you can't draw sitting down but it looks really comfortable

There is usually a manufactures mark on it somewhere kind of like this that identifies who forged it.

I carry chambered, safety on. Ruger also has an integrated trigger safety. Haven't removed mag disconnect either, won't.
