I'm sorry for you folks who haven't maintained your truck and now have frame problems. Every year I go to my local Oil Guard here in London Ontario Canada and have my truck oil sprayed. They use a special oil and a wand that sprays oil mists the inside of doors, fenders, rockers, your hood and they spray the entire underside including inside the frame. This is no comparison to using a spray bomb, as a spray bomb only works on accessible outside surfaces.
I don't only spray my truck to protect the frame and panels, the oil gets into everything protecting electrical harnesses and brake lines. The truck is also a lot easier to work on.
To get a truck sprayed costs $139 but is well worth it when I go to sell it.

I have a friend who bought a similar wand off Amazon and buys Fluid Film by the pail and does it that way.

There is a sticky in the 2nd gen forum here where the guy sanded and painted his frame, sorry, you made the problem worse. The paint over time traps the moisture and accelerates the rust problem. Most of the rusting happens from the inside to the outside according to my friend at the dealership. It's worse where the frame plates are doubled up, the moisture gets in between the plates. When I oil spray, the oil seaps in between these plates keeping moisture out.

    So happy for you.

But is there anything you want to share we've not heard of before? Lot 'o theads on this topic.

Your thread looks like a thinnly veiled ad for a franchise owner. Maybe not, just sayin.

BTW, before you are too hard on painting frames........ when cleaned and prepped on a stripped truck, then finished with a rust encapsulator (paint) a decent preservation is done........ and painted frames can still be fluid filmed.

Sad thing is you shouldn't have to do this if it was a quality product in the first place. I wonder what people spend per year on rust proofing Toyota frames? Can they recoup the losses?

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

You know, rustproofing has been a profitable business for decades. Long before Tacomas.

No one else I know of has replaced frames. Much less reimbursed for preventive action.

No one else I know has trucks that only last 6-10 years. Big lawsuit in favor of Toyota owners, I guess that means others think their cars are junk.

Chevy Colorado is looking better and better.

I guess you didn't hear about the faulty ignition switches on several GM vehicles that killed people and the lies and cover up by GM. Those people who died in those vehicles didn't make that purchase expecting to die because of bad parts installed by GM. Frame replacement seems really minor to me. It all works both ways. Hope you enjoy a Colorado if you get one. I will take a frame replacement over death anytime.

I have absolutely no affiliation with any Auto Service Company, just Toyota Fan Boy who like Maguires Car Wash and Oilguard.

Just wait until the frame rots out and kills all the occupants. Or the leaf springs rot out and puncture the gas tank and give a nice crisp tan.

If you maintain and inspect your truck regularly, you won't experience catastrophic failures. Do your job, the truck will do it's job.

I wouldn't let my truck get to that point of having holes, and I don't think I'd let Toyota replace my frame. I'd patch my frame before I let the dealership do a rush swap on my truck..

I do recall my neighbour who's a Ford mechanic stating he had done many F150 frame swaps also.
