I agree with this, a lot of times I have pallets of stuff that exceeds the height of a shell. Plus it's easier to load and unload the bed with no shell. I think there's more things that can be done with no shell. If you wanted dry secure bed space to lock stuff up why not by an SUV?

I like it better without. If you have the storage space, keep it in case you need to use it in the future.

You need a AAL or Dakar pack in the rear if you want to keep the cap. Just my personal opinion but the nose high look is a bit corny and shows off the shity stock suspension Toyota puts in these trucks. Just my opinion though. Do what you want in terms of that.

I bought a Softopper and it's cool, but if I were to do it over (and I will eventually) I would get a fiberglass top. I would also get a power lift for it for the roof of my garage.

I like the look of caps, but I don't keep my caps on 100% of the time. I only have mine on when I need it.

I'm going to do some rear suspension work soon. I'm not a huge fan of going uphill all the time. Removing the shell has helped also

I used to have an FJ40 and would take me a couple of hours by myself to take the top on/off.

Keep it in the garage. In comparison, the shell is hardly a hassle.

Pretty simple 1 man operation if you have the space on your garage ceiling. I tend to keep the shell on; it makes a great kennel and keeps my interior from getting beat up by the four-legged bastards. As a plus, nobody is taking or adding stuff to the back of your bed without some effort. SUV comparisons are kind of dumb; when's the last time you hosed out the back of a 4runner?

Probably less painful selling the shell if you didn't buy it new in the first place. And good luck finding a shell down the road that fits and matches your truck if you decide you need one after all.

I took mine off and was surprised how heavy it was, being fiberglass.

    Too few to list.
Snugtop is a premium brand and usually cost more than ARE or LEER. It looks like you have a Super Sport model which I think it cost about $2K new. I'm guessing you either have solid or folding glass up front and not a boot? I've seen them used on Craigslist go for about $1,200 or so used.
