Just bought this truck 2 days ago. I only put 130 miles on it.Yesterday I started noticing a sluggishness after coming to a stop and tried to go again. The truck would struggle to get going. This would happen throughout the day. Today while coming home from work I noticed it again getting on to the freeway the sluggishness or the truck struggling to start moving then my Check Engine Light and Trac Light came on. Once I got home I hooked up my scanner and it showed code P0333 Knock Sensor 2 Circut High Output (bank 2). I'm like WTF this is a brand new truck and this is already happening. Gonna go to the dealership tomorrow and show them what's up and complain that this shouldn't be happening to a brand new truck I bought 2 days ago. I should ask for some free accessories for this huge inconvenience.

That is a bummer but...stuff happens. That is why they give you a warranty.

That sucks, and it's inconvenient for sure. Hopefully it's only a one-time glitch that won't ever show up again.
You'll probably get an apology and a free cup of coffee.
Free accessories? Yeah, I'm sure that will happen.

Welcome to TW, let's see some pics of that new truck!

Free accessories? That's how companies bait you in to buy a product. You've already sprung the trap.

Yeah I know shit happens. But 2 days after I bought it sucks. I know I won't get free accessories but hopefully at a discounted price lol. Just gonna take it in and see what they say. I'll keep you updated.

That happened to me. My truck started to jerk. It had a little over 12k miles. I didn't have a code reader and code cleared once I got it towed to the dealer. It wasn't a CPS issue like everyone else was having but it was a faulty engine wiring harness. It was loose and would lose contact from vibration. They had to take apart my intake manifold to replace three different engine harnesses. Glad for warranty...LOL!

My check engine and trac off light came on this morning. Phoned dealer, they told me to bring it in Monday (too busy this week), no mention of free accessories. :notsure:

In the meantime they said, check the gas cap and engine bay for rodents.

    Serious.

Sounds like a defective knock sensor and/or wiring harness

Toyota is the builder of the truck.

Your dealer is the retailer who sold it to you, and who is paid by Toyota to fix this for free, and will either provide you a short term dealer loaner or a long term loaner paid for by Toyota Corp, depending on need.

You wanting free stuff from the dealer makes no sense. They don't owe you for the inconvenience, Toyota does.. and Toyota will pay for the above mentioned things in order to minimize disruption in your life.

Curious why the dealer should discount stuff or give you free stuff for something being broken that they're not responsible for or involved in, except to fix it after the fact?

Mine seems to be running ok. Started it this morning, drove a few blocks to the store, shut it down and when I re-started it the lights were on. Drove a couple more blocks and it seemed fine, but didn't get to give it a good enough run to notice any real issues. I'll run it tonight after work. Dealer told me that if it goes into limp mode, they will take it in earlier, otherwise I'll just wait until Monday and have them scan it for a code. I commute into work, so it's sitting in the parking lot right now. Whatever the issue is, I'll post it up.

Sorry OP, not trying to hijack your thread. Just have a similar situation and for all I know, same issue as yours.

The only reason they would in a situation like this would be to keep you as a satisfied customer that would buy again in the future.

Sure, but they'd volunteer that generous offer in order to do so.

I'm not sure why there should be an expectation from the OP that he's owed something beyond free repair and free car loan for his trouble.

Factory Blackout package, Soft roll up bed cover, Cheap seat covers, Front and rear dash cam, AVS in channel vent visors
That does suck and is an inconvience, but don't be "that guy" going in demanding free or discounted stuff.
As a Tech we love to see guys come in like that, cause guess what, in the long run the tech has full control of when you can get your vehicle back.
I can take it in the bay, run diagnostic, get part from parts room and said part can sit there while I work on something else or even take a lunch break.
If you pull up, nicely state you had a code pop up, they can get you in and if you do not raise a fuss, your vehicle will be the one getting worked on while Mr. Hot head is sitting there waiting till 5 o'clock.
I would rather have priority service than free or discounted accessories.
Just keep that in the back of your mind.
And I do remember our trouble customers by name and face.
