Speaking of. . . I've been considering getting a set of deep sockets. Can't decide between 1/2" drive and 3/8" drive.

Or should I just get a few singles of the ones I need? Only ones I can think of that I have run into where deeps are handy are my ubolts (1/2" drive), lug nuts (1/2" drive), and top of rear Camry strut mount studs (I used a 1/4" drive deep, 3/8" probably would have been best. not sure if 1/2" would have fit in the small space).

Yeah i am trying to put together a tool roll for my truck. One that can stay in there and will have all the tools i need for trail fixes. Well maybe not all of them, but enough to get the easier stuff done.

I have 3/8 drive for all the common stuff and the 1/2 for the 20+mm sockets. I have both standard and deep for 8-19mm since most you need both for different things on the truck. My favorite tools are racheting wrenches.

Home Depot or someone usually does a Christmas/black lung holiday party pack of Craftsman sockets for $30-50 depending on size.

Keep an eye on slickdeals and such.

Nothing like that first trip up to the mountains of Colorado to get you hooked. I spend a couple of weeks each year up there.

I went to CO a few months ago, it was my first time. Once I started driving back to TX I was ready to go again. It was beautiful country. I'll be going back next year for sure!

@trekker said that he travels there every year. Maybe we can piggy back his trips!

It's awesome in the summer, especially up at elevation. It's crowded in places though but you gotta expect that. I've done a few trails in the truck but mostly I go there to backpack and summit 14'ers. Catching trout is pretty awesome too. I went for the first time in '12 on my first ever backpacking trip that just about killed me haha, but the mountains are now my home away from home. Hell, mountains are the reason I have a Tacoma now!

P.S. If you ever go to Salida, hit up Moonlight Pizza. You can thank me later!

Honestly for sockets, I buy whatever Sears has on sale around Xmas time. Even when I was doing it for a living I was never able to justify the money for tool truck sockets. Just something expensive for me to leave under the hood of a car.

Ive never been to CO. Ive been wanting to get it in the schedule to do the Alpine Loop since my buddy did it in his 4 runner last year. Were going to Hawaii this next summer though so I dont know when that will happen. (I love traveling btw).

The wife wants to do the Alpine Loop once I get a 4x4 which will be 2018/19 ish.

Side note since we're on the subject. We usually hit up CO with the inlaws time share every other year or so.
