I know ICBC usually writes off vehicles with frame damage so you might be in luck. I also have that gap/replacement insurance and if I leveled a deer like that I would make sure I have it brought to a shop that I know would write it off.

I nailed a Tire and rim on an interstate at about 55 and my airbag fired, even without a hard deceleration. I just felt a thump, and I had an airbag in my face!

Ouch. Wheel is harder than deer meat, and it is an 06. Specs have changed over the past 11 years.

Unfortunatley the shop doesn't get to decide if its a rightoff. Ikybiky makes that decision.

And to inform those City folk, that don't get out much and wouldn't eat a deer nailed by a vehicle. They would have nothing to worry about except missing out on some really tasty eats. As a hunter of 50 years and participating in the cleaning and eating of numerous gut shot Deer, Moose, and Elk. (not my shooting) :oops:And also in the preparation of a few Langley deer that got in the way of a truck on Livingston rd many years ago. Back then that area was country and we thought nothing of filling our freezers with some excellent eats. Not much difference to hunting. Process the kill the same way as if it had been hunted. Guts are usually contained in the Rib cavity even when the gut sack has been broken. Very easy task to wipe the mushed intestines out of the cavity . If cleaned up properly there is no contamination of meat. Then Butcher & wrap deer up as usual. Not legal to keep the deerin Canada as it is considered by law as the Queens game. If hit in the country and still fresh, usually the RCMP or hyway crew will donate the game to a needy family in the area or to a local food bank. .

So if you hit the "Queen's game" and destroy your truck does the Queen pay for the damage?

Yes, I know. Still, it was $12,545 in total damages!

Nope. Didn't hurt me at all, just scared the crap out of me when it went off! The entire left front suspension had to be replaced, along with the bumper, fender, flare, radiator mount, headlight fog light, and more.

I've done plenty of roadkill deer. Have never had a perf'd bowel. I've seen bullet/broadheads do more meat damage. As long as you cut out or just grind up the blood shot meat they are good eating. I usualy get one or two a year off the road fresh as a witness on my commute home. The DNR doesn't want you to take them but law enforcement wants them gone as they are an eyesore and can cause safety problems as they attract other critters often right on the road. I've had a cop ask me to stick one with my bow because he didn't want to deal with the paper work involved with discharging his service weapon. It was not quite dead in the road. Not legal in communist occupied MD but ethical.

Eyeing up a C4 Fab plate bumper. Kind of big but that thing looks like it can deflect a white tail. Is that an easy DIY project? Looks like I have to do some fender flare surgery but otherwise just bolts in.

The front ends of newer vehicles have to meet government mandated pedestrian impact safety standards. That's the reason all the plastic parts disengaged.....per design.

Not enough intrusion to fire the airbags though.

My whole point was, though, that the OPs Airbag should have fired after hitting several hundred pounds of deer, when mine went off after hitting a 75 pound tire!
But thanks, I was lucky that it didn't bounce up and land on my hood....or worse!
