Does anyone make a tailgate cap that hangs 1-2 inches over the tailgate?

I just got a quote from LineX and they wanted 315 to do my bed caps only. I though that was a little nuts, so now I'm looking for other options.

Does anyone make a bedcap that hangs over the tailgate more then like half an inch? Most of the ones I see barely hang over. My Leer canopy door has worn off the tailgate paint about 1.5" down, and I would like to have that part covered with a bedcap.

    Something like this: 07-17-08_1617_8c037bb5a78b21460d674bb0c214d9d0eaee28c7.jpg

Check Bushwacker, Wade, Westin and ebay for chinese copies.

I have a Wade tailgate cap installed on mine...
exactly for the reasons you mentioned.

My Wade is fairly thick and is why I chose that particular one.
I believe it's held in place needing only double sticky tape.

It's held up swimmingly to the shell's rear window rub
for near abouts 15 years since new.

    And so I've no complaint.

    shell removed...

I just put a piece of black duct tape across when I noticed it start to rub. I put the edge on the tailgate just below where the cap/camper rubber strip hits to make sure I had coverage protection

My rear window on my shell would have rubbed thru duct tape in just a few hours.

Add a little dust grit to the mix... probably not even an hour.

prep the area you want done, buy a liner type kit you can apply yourself, tape off the area you want the material on and apply it. You can customize the protection to any size that you like

You might try snugging everything up, you really shouldn't get that kind of rubbing if everything is tight. It sounds like the cap has spread a bit allowing the door to move back and forth.

That's actually not a bad idea, my tailgate is already bent in a little due to carrying stuff.

 youll love it. I abuse the hell out of it and has held up beautifully. Went tailgating at the Texans game this past Sunday and the gate held the grill, a full Yeti and people going in and out..very happy with it.

Now the Texans..not really happy. :anonymous:

My shell weather stripping rubbed the powdercoat off both sides of my tailgate protector. So I wouldn't consider that to be a solution to the problem OP is having. It'd just likely rub paint off somewhere else.
