Me putting a 3 gallon gas can is not going to alleviate the issue as the 3 gallon gas can is thicker.

Noted. Hitch extension seems like it is the best case option maybe...at least for the short(er) term.

Option 1: SoloXL, 2" wider truck mount, 3" longer receiver shaft (available today)
Option 2: Hitch Extension (solution possible as soon as 1-2 weeks)
Option 3: Redesign standard Solo to be Tacoma Specific (4-6 months)

I don't have a picture of it on a Tacoma...just on big vans.

It's exactly what you have, but the pivot bolt is 2" further out and the shaft is 3" longer. Do you want the pic on the other vehicles?

    Not the same van...but...

His hitch also sticks out an inch, while the taco is recessed about an inch.

I'm curious about a pic with a trailer attached on the Tacoma specifically. Really wanting to see how far from the turning mechanism on a trailer the tire is. I have used/built some ghetto fabulous trailers and it seems like the tire sticking out so far right on the center area and so low might hamper spinning the trailer mechanism.

We are not guaranteeing to work with all trailers. But I'll post up a pic of some later on tonight.

Not sure if you figured it out yet, but your Rotopax mount's bolts are backwards - the bolt heads should be on the same side as the mount. The bolt ends/nuts are probably contacting the can, pushing the can out, and pushing the t-handle closer to the tailgate.

I'm fairly sure that flipping those bolts around will give you a little bit more clearance, hopefully enough to not be a problem.

Nope then the Wilco Rotopax Mount won't sit flush to the swingarm properly. All options have been tested and as these are universal parts and not Tacoma specific. Only options are the extension noted, Tacoma specific Hitchgate, or a different Hitchgate altogether.
