We recommend 1lb payloads or less for off-roading with the Un-Holey Dash Mount, but you could probably get away with a 2lb Surface if you were parked or just driving on smooth roads. If you don't have a mount for the tablet itself, our Big Squeeze Tablet Mount will be ready in about 2 weeks and will hold something as big as 7.875".

Excellent! I will probably buy a RAM that will fit the Surface but use your vent mount. It would only be mounted while stationary in a parking lot.

yeah, probably overkill for roadside office use :muscleflexing: We have a bunch of guys who want to run ipads on their KTM 500EXCs... the moto stuff requires a beefy mount.

We sell the 1" ram balls. You could mount the 1.5" one if you wanted to, as long as it has the AMPS hole pattern.

SPOD touchscreen mounted. Vent mount install was a little tricky. The inside edge is beveled on my vent so the piece that turns to grab kept slipping off. Also the ram ball mount overlaps and contacts the chrome ring on the vent. No biggie though.

The trick there is to make sure the small nut is unscrewed so that only 1/2 or so of its threads are engaged before you start tightening. The inside edge is beveled so the nut needs to go back far enough so that when it swings around it catches fully behind the bevel, not on it. I should add a comment on the install video to mention that. it's easiest if you back the small nut off first before installing the ring so you don't risk fully unthreading it and loosing the nut.

That's what I ended up doing. I was just really scared that the little oval nut would fall into the vent so I didn't unscrew it enough.

Ideally that screw would have a retainer so the nut can't be fully unthreaded but I haven't thought of a good, and cost effective, way to do that... and a longer screw interferes with the vent internals. But glad you got it figured.

@wileydavis can you make one with the ability to have a ram ball on both the top and bottom? I currently run 5 ram mounts on my windshield and it is a pain to manage.

    Heres what I mount:

    iPhone
    sPod Control Module touch screen
Spot Tracker (only on off-road trips)
Garmin Glo GPS receiver (only on off-road trips)
    iPad (only on off-road trips)

If you had one with ram ball mounts on top and bottom, I could mount the Spot Tracker and Garmin Glo on one and use the singular mounts for the rest.

I'll gladly test it and provide pictures if you're interested in making it!

    Thanks!

I originally wanted to do that, but there's not enough space on the bottom to put a large enough backing plate. So both balls would need to be at the top where the big boomerang nut is. That said, you can mount two of the balls to it. With a bit of loctite they'd be just fine with one screw apiece. I'd guess these are close enough to the top to not present an issue as ling as you don't exceed 1lb. Like so:

How the hell do you even seen out of the windshield?!
You driving a truck or flying a plane?
You're like a teenager at a concert, spending all your time looking at your screen instead of the live action in front of you.

Ok, that's all I've got for now.
