Oilers fans should be glad to hear the coach ripping them last night, they deserved it. I thought they looked terriblefor most of the game and their PP was a joke, made the leafs look better then they were

I heard last night that the Panthers fired their coach. Not new news. What I had heard was they made him get off the team bus on the way to the Rink. And he had to catch a cab.

It was after the previous game in Carolina. And the cab thing is true. Look back a few posts and I reference a few other things recently that they have done which lead up to this.

Basically a bad front office on that team.

Yeah. I highly suspect the entire Panthers incident with the coach to be the beginning of a plan to move the team somewhere else. The owner is a big wall street guy and has hired a team of businessmen to right the ship. They didn't make this intentional move just for fun, they want the players and fans to be upset so the team and attendance numbers slip again. I think plan A is to move to Quebec in 2019.

Exactly. I'm sure the owner has figured out he could make more money by sewering the team and selling it to Quebec then he could by trying to build things back up in Florida. Don't forget that the expansion fee was 500 million and no one in Quebec really wanted to pay that. If the Panthers could sell for 300 million though... yeah that's a lot better price for a team with lots of young talent and the former owner walks away with more money than he could of ever made by keeping the team in Florida. Of course he can't say that but I wonder what's being said in Bettmans office right now about it.

Don't worry Oz, we always knew you were a fLamer.

I'm going to dine in the members only club tonight with a couple of hardcore Leafs fans and a Sens fan. There will be no love for the Flames from us tonight but we will enjoy their roast beef before watching a game live, something I'm guessing you haven't done in a few decades lol.

You are right. Nothing surprises me at this point. It's a shame because that team has a solid foundation with some good young and veteran talent. They did overachieve last year a bit but even so, good group. So if they were in the right market, it would be a good start. Right now it's good team, bad front office and bad market (not to offend anyone who is a fan of theirs). And I just don't get that firing still, for a guy whos never coached NHL and is mostly a pure analytics guy. Just odd to me, but maybe I am looking at it the wrong way.

Seems to be a good amount of hockey fans here so I'll ask. Does anyone think they would be interested in a group funded investment that is focused on buying a major sports team? Obviously Im just some guy on tacomaworld, but if anyone is serious about it, in the new year we will have a lot more information. The guy doing it owns a few banks in UK and I have known him for years. He has built up a solid foundation of investments but hes really huge sports fan and is trying to get this going. Apparently he said it will be sort of like everyone who is interested group wise will bring a certain amount to the table. We on a Leafs fan site are getting together and getting 25k, (about 1k each) and then all groups add it together. I am no investment guru so I cannot answer all the questions but he will when its all ready to go. It will be all legal and etc etc, nothing shady. Would be awesome to own a part of a team and thats what has me interested

Ya I know. Hes from the UK so you never know what he would want. Hes a massive hockey and baseball fan but I really dont know. I would guess it would be a smaller purchase first and then grow but I have no clue. I know that he was saying it should be about a 13% gain a year so Im sure they all have a plan
