Rule of thumb is 2x the vehicle weight. And my chubby girl is definitely closer to 6k than 5k. The Zeon 10s is also an option, but pricey too. I am just in love with the idea of the clutch being controlled via the remote. I can thing of a few instances where this could be invaluable.
And once I am redone doing my front bumper and adding planned reinforcements, my frame will bend prior to the bumper coming loose.

My SmittyBult X20 12k is the EXACT weight, dimensions and footprint as the 10k model. The only difference is that the internal gearing is lower. Speed in winching is not an issue for me. The ability to recover in any situation, especially when a snatch block cannot be used to double your pulling power, is important to me.
Especially for heavy weight rigs like ours (they keep getting heavier every day as we keep adding shit.) Plus, you start including mud and high angle stuff in a stuck scenario, that even needs more pulling power to break free.

I think it's the GIANT DOG you have in the foreground that makes the tires look small.

I tried running them too. But yorkies are too damn short if the snow is more than an inch deep

    What load range are they?

Mine were load range C (didn't know any better and I guess neither did the shop) and they had some weak sidewalls. Slashed 2 of them wide open on some really easy trails.

Pretty sure they are C. I'm not worried about slashing them, I got a road hazard on them anyway..

On another note, I am now employed.

Always good to hear. And that was relatively short. More like a vacation than unemployment. Except the no pay part.
