Did you have to trim the shrouds to fit? If so was it a lot of trimming? What did you use to trim them?

I did have to trim the Apollo shrouds to get them to fit correctly, but not very much. I used my dremel tool with an almost cone shaped grinding attachment (not sure what it's called) and it worked great. The only parts that needed trimming were on the inside of the shroud on the bottom for the hi beam solenoid to clear and then the right and left edges where the projector contacted the shroud. I also used those three contact points to mount the shroud with hi-temp Permatex RTV gasket sealant that Yosh2000 suggested in his write up.

Nice work, looks like you did a very nice, clean install. Did you use the dremel to cut the reflector bowls, or something else?

I ended up using my dremel to cut the reflector bowls. It turned out nice and clean with the projectors fitting snug as well.

Looks like you did a very good job at doing so. All of your cuts look nice and straight. You also did a very clean job putting the epoxy on. Mine is a little messier, but it all works the same! I need to take pictures of my retro.

Thanks for the compliments! I saw in a thread that you stripped one of the black pieces for the reflector adjustment. Did you get that fixed yet? Funny how the little things go wrong and mess everything up. I hate when that happens. When I finished my retro and was installing the lights back on the truck I misplaced some of the bolts and spent about an hour trying to find them. I guess I was a little too anxious, haha. That was frustrating since all I wanted to do was drive around and enjoy them!

You should takes pics as well! We'll be waiting........:)

The lights work, but if I push too hard on the back of the light, the adjustment knob allows it to shift up and down, so once I get one I can get them fixed. Should be an easy fix. They are in now, and I love them!

I am planning a FX R retro soon. One question for those that have already done it. Does the weight of the projectors move the bowls and knock the light out of alignment when going over bumps or off road? Thanks in advance.

Well I haven't gone offroading per say but I have hit some pretty good bumps/potholes and other crap lately and mine are still aligned just like the day they were installed.

I haven't had the chance to take the truck off road since I installed my retrofit, but I have driven roughly 800 miles with them which included mountain passes as well as rough city streets. They have held together well and have not been knocked out of alignment yet even with some of the big bumps.

That is just regular JB Weld. Seems to be working great so far.

^ oh sick, haha. One thing that has puzzled me is that if the projectors are jb welded on, how do you adjust them? or do the adjustment knobs adjust the entire reflector that in turn, adjusts the projector that is attached to it?

Yes, the stock adjustment knobs aim the projectors since they are bolted/jb welded to the reflector.

I had them on my old set up. They were built into the shroud around my projector lenses that I got from Luminous Solutions. For the majority of the time I had that set up I didn't have the CCFLs wired. About the time I started compiling all the parts to do my FX-R retro I wired the CCFLs into my parking lights. It actually was kind of cool after I thought they would be to ricer or bmw looking for so long. They were white in color. Also, they did not work well when it was cold out. Below about 35 degrees they were never all that bright.

What did you use to attach the shroud to the projector? Also did bolts to mount the projector to the bowl come with the kit or did you just pick some up at a hardware store?
