What size motors do they have and what kind of gas mileage do they get? I know the EPA does not require the manufacturers to disclaim it because they are considered work trucks
Lol. Yeah maybe. It's Chris @ABA180 that's always talking about her stilettos

The F250 gasser has a 6.2L V8. Seems real world, unloaded fuel economy is in the 12 MPG range. I saw one post in a Ford forum where an owner commented on getting 14 MPG on a 65 MPH highway run, unloaded, and everyone thought that was fan-fuking-tastic. That was enough to scare me away. I'm sure the 6.7 diesel does better but I can't even lie to myself well enough to justify a diesel (nor could I afford one).
Wholly hell! The 'eco' part of that is laughable but I can't wait to see it. That could be a viable option for the Superduty if given a different tune.

The new F250's come with a 6.2 gas motor that averages in the mid-teens unloaded with highway gears (3.73's)

Yeah, probably just "boost" would be more accurate, lol.

I bet it would work well for the 250's, though. With the right tuning it'd be a real torque monster.

When I had my WS6, I almost bought a set of CCW 505a wheels. With the tires I was looking at, the whole package would have been around $5k.

It's possible BMW wheels might fit the Vette. It's 5x120 vs 5x120.7 right? I know people who put 5x114.3 wheels on GM cars with the 5x115 bolt pattern without issue. I suppose if you're going to drop a few grand on wheels, might as well do it right.

@Pugga - I was trolling the local Ford dealers just the other day - 2016 3.5 Eco S'Crew XLT 154"WB no center console 302A package. Found one - Wife says go for it but I'm tight with money... Daughter will be college bound in a few years and that'll cost a small(?) fortune. Why 2016? 6speed transmission... 2017 got 10 speed on 3.5 Eco. My track record with automatic transmissions isn't the best. Those engines are so detuned, it ain't funny. As for a 3/4 or larger, their all pigs these days. IMO, last best engine for HP with economy was 5.9 Cummins - P pumped (1994 - early 1998) being the best. On my 96, I would turn low 20's (21-23MPG) if I was gentle on the skinny pedal when riding from CT to PA. Mash the pedal and it would go away but that was dropping approx. 950 ft-lbs to the ground. It would do a burn out from 1st all the way through converter lock up (4th) on 255/85s... When I bought my falcon, I had to tow it back from PA on a heavy equipment trailer. Coming out of PA on 84 there's a 2 mile climb about 8-10% - good and steep. The ol' gal walked up that in the left lane at 70 with much, much more available - like it wasn't pulling anything.

Ideal truck, for me, is a early 70's F350 crew with a 5.9 Cummins backed by a 5speed... Just gotta build it after finding that pot of gold. Don't get me wrong, the Tacoma is OK but it's a different type of truck. Off road, snow covered road vehicle - not a tow truck.

I always preferred the old rotary pump Cummins, because you could turn them up or down with a screwdriver.

Yeah, the 5x120.65 vs 5x120. I know manufacturing tolerances are such that a BMW wheel would probably bolt onto the car without issue, but I just don't like that idea. It's the same reason I won't put spacers on my truck to widen the stance, even though aesthetically I really like it. My goal was to see if they guy would do the swap for $700 or less, given that he wants $15k for his car and ultimately the wheels aren't going to make or break the sale, or even change the price. When he started the email with well they were $3,800 new... I haven't heard back when I asked for a ballpark of what he wants for them, so I'm guessing that's a hard no. Honestly, I don't even have that type of money right now to spend on wheels, but they fell into my lap.

I have zero desire to spend thousands on wheels. If I wanted to do that there's a set of Volk TE-37s on CL for $2,700 in Vette fit and a set of HREs for $2,000. I like the BBS LM because they give me the "tuner" look I'm wanting for the Vette (eventually doing yellow fogs, Corbeau seats, etc). I can't stand the typical stuffy Corvette owner with all the chrome BS. The CCW is definitely a classic wheel for the car, but ultimately for the price of those, I'd need to be head over heels, and I'm not.

My first Toyota basically came about when I started looking at doing Enkei RC-T4s for the Subaru with Star Specs or a set of the JDM S204 BBS RE wheels. For the price of those, I could buy a 89-95 Toyota Pickup. So, I did that instead, fell in love, bought a Tacoma and now I'm here, annoying all of you!

You know your way around an injection pump - well done. When I was into the #2 scene , I messed around with a custom ground fuel pin with a fellow truck club member. Funny thing with torque, you just can get enough. Combining the custom fuel screw, Prince of darkness injectors, and a modification to the turbo that I did for him (pieced together a larger wheel/housing onto this exhaust housing), his 89 went quite nicely... My 96 ran a #4 plate, light AFC springs, 370HP marine injectors, Custom turbo on stock 12cm exhaust housing...

They are very far and few between. Got to look in Texas or California... Found one on e-pay but... you know... Too tight with the money.

Kinda sorta, the basics. I've never owned a diesel truck myself, just tinkered with them some with friends/family.
My cousin hauls livestock and had a 2WD '92 with the 5 speed for a few years. He used to turn the pump up when he was hauling a freighted trailer, and then dial it back down once he'd made his delivery and get 22mpg's all the way home.
His was a bone stock setup though, except for a 4" exhaust. Nothing like what you had in yours. But I learned what little I know from helping him work on his, because he lived right down the hill from us growing up.

I'm still a little disappointed I didn't make the trade but I do like my 2013 and it's treated me well so far. I wouldn't go for a 2017, a 10 speed transmission just sounds like a terrible idea, the damn thing will really give the torque converter a workout!

What size tires are you getting?

Yeah I don't get all the gears thing. For 50 years all any auto ever had was 3 gears and they worked fine

The morons at the militant EPA say we need to be more fuel efficient, so manufacturers are trying to squeeze out a few more miles per gallon.

Yeah, unless you wanted to do 65 on the highway without your truck sounding like it was going to explode...

I have to admit that I like having more than 3 speeds in an automatic, but I really think that 5 or 6 is more than enough. If you're opting for a 10 speed automatic, just quit fooling yourself and put a damn CVT in it.

Agreed, where they're going is where heavy equipment has been for years. Engine feeding a hydraulic pump so the engine can stay in the 'sweet spot' of it's rev range. I don't see engine over hydro ever making it to the road but it seems like that's what they're trying to mimic.

Really depended on the rear axle gears. Years ago there would be options for probably 3 or more different ratios. When the 4 speeds came that really went away. I agree with you though. I don't see any need for a regular vehicle to have more than 5 - 6 gears to choose from.
