Converting rear axle to e-locker

    Hello,

    I'm Jim. Only been a Toyota owner for a couple years now.
    I've got a 2009 Tacoma 4x4, 4 door, TRD Sport.

    Question:
    Easiest, Cheapest, most productive way to convert the rear axle to an E-locker?

    New axle that's equipped with e-locker already?
    Can you just by the 3rd member and swap it out on the Sport version?
    Air locker seems to be an expensive way to go.

    Any and all opinions welcome. If anyone has done this any advice would be great.

    Having them installed in my 1994 FJZ80 right now. Pretty stoked. I'm also adding the stock locker switch from Toyota and hopefully the dash lights will work too.

    A few bolts are different.
    ARB is without a doubt the best direction to go. There is a lot more to it thank just putting a E-locker 3rd in the axle. It takes a whole axle swap and then wiring. The ARB is a stronger unit overall also. And, you get the added benefit of being able to air up your tires using the compressor.

    Well there's aftermarket e lockers that are just as strong maybe stronger than ARB. Price is slightly cheaper because you need a compressor. And you'll only be airing up tires if you buy the bigger model that can support it. If I ever need a locker it will be the harrop/eaton e lockers.
