You can still choose your axle ratio with a lot of trucks. Of course, the Tacoma is the exception... I think the F150 comes with either 3:31, 3:55 or 3:73 (and I think 4:10 or 4:30 for the Raptor). I think 5 or 6 speeds is a happy medium.

I thought most of that was done by the factory now depending on what "package" you were ordering. Ex. Towing or bigger tires, something like that. I didn't think it was a stand alone thing still. At least not on the 1/2 tons

True. My '84 has 3.55's, but a Granny low to get you rolling with a heavy load. But it had the option of 3.23's, 3.73's, 3.91's or 4:11's out of the factory.

BUT; the 2016 F150 has 3 or 4 rear end ratios to pick from too.

    Manual transmission FTW! :D

Lexus advertised their 7 speed auto for having a smoother ride than the average auto does.

Even those have more gears than they used to. My '69 had the option of either a 3 speed or a 4 speed. The '84 has a 4 speed. I drove 5-speed Nissans for years, and my '99 was a 5 speed. Now they have 6.

Yeah, but you can order just about anything you want within reason. Obviously, if you want the max tow package, I think you're forced into the 3:73 but you can get the tow package with any of the available rears. With Ford, you can pretty much mate any engine with any rear. When I was looking at new ones, I was able to find quite a few different combinations, all XLTs with the tow package.

I rented a Springfield 1911 TRP, and now I want one real bad! I've shot a lot of different hand guns but this one was a pleasure to shoot and I was more accurate than I've been with anything else, even smaller caliber ones. Not cheap though...

1911's are N-I-C-E... If you're serious about getting one, try a Kimber. You'll cream on how smooth it is...

Back to the trucks - according to the builder on line, you can get the F150 in a boat load of gearing options. 3.31 is typical with 3.50 being the next popular. From memory, I think they go up to 4.30's. Now if the 10 speed transmission gave you a lower final drive, then a high gear rear would be sweet. I can't imagine that's the case if most come with 3.31's. I don't need more gears just to split the shifts closer together. My 6 speed is bad enough with the 500 rpm drop between gears. Too bad they no longer offer a stick in the F150 or I'd have considered it when I bought the Tacoma. Matter of fact, you have to step to a Dodge 3/4 ton Cummins to get a stick. The rest are at 1 ton or higher if they even offer them. Only Toyota and Nissan have them in a light duty pick up.

Kimbers are harder to find in MA. You gots to find one used in a personal sale. So your limited to buying one off Northeastshooters or something. And you'll pay a premium. A lot of the high end 1911s are similar like the TRP the sig tacops ect. All a dream to shoot. I evaluated all the options and went with a ruger 1911 saved myself $600 and I love it. The gun I want the most is the CZ SP01 but I can't find one!!!

I wanted a Kimber, I hate MA CMRs... I'm rocking a Remington R1S 1911 and really like it.

Haha, yeah, I know... I actually traded for the 1911 so I didn't have a lot of choices. It turned out to be a fun shooter.

Good morning. Raining again. At least it's in the 50s and not freezing or snowing.
