Thanks for asking Rob, as far as I know his cancer is in remission, he beat the odds so far. Lot of complications and mentally the wheels fell off his wagon and he is in lockdown and treatment right now. I haven't been through what he has so keep telling myself to reserve judgement but hard not to get upset at him for giving up. But I haven't given up, not yet.

Yeah just what seems to be typical sciatic nerve thing that appears to be common at this age. Went to SD and hunted walking 7-8 miles a day with it for almost 3 weeks so PT, etc. is just a walk in the park :D But be glad when life gets back to normal and will keep up with PT and core strengthening\flexibility to prevent this from ever happening again. Getting older is certainly not for the weak LOL.

Those fires are very destructive , what gets me is how active it is even with the higher humidity . usually a fire will lay down in humidity higher than 30% and anything below that it is unstoppable .looked at Gatlinburg's weather and showing humidity in the high 80%

Out here were I live when we have really bad fires the humidity needs to be 20% or lower even into single digit humidity . The fires here can grow to 10k plus acres in just an hour or more . If the humidity is high the fires here just stop burning

There's 3 distinctive types of destructive brush fires one is the Crown fires which is very typical of heavily forested land such as we've got here . This is when fire burns from tree top to tree top and is a very explosive type of fire fed on the tree sap of ea tree

The fires back east are more of a ground fire or surface fire fed off of the dried brush and vegetation directly on the ground

And Racine is in the South. Southern Wi. that is. Curling is huge in Wisconsin for some reason and a lot of Wisconies make it as far as the Olympics. They do take their drinking in Wi. pretty seriously LOL. Shooting in the winter blizzard league against Wi. if you win on the Mn. side you get a meat tray (steaks). Wi. side is usually a bottle of booze.

Spent several years in the SW, and to me the brown gets old. Although over the years suprised how much irrigation goes on including watering yards, etc. now. At one time couldn't wait to get back to the North and piss my name in the snow. Now that I'm older, not so much :) Moved here from Asheville, NC which was just about the most perfect place I have lived weather wise for me. And hoping those fires get put out quickly. Lot of people I know live in the mountains and kept deadfalls and underbrush cleared out to 100 yards, some pushed out to 250 yards. But when a fire gets hot enough the trees burn too.

That is why I like the Oregon coast, rain, snow and sunshine, a nice mix.
