Anyone have experience running both KO2's and Duratracs in serious snow? I had Duratracs on my RAM and was leaning towards the same for my '17 Tacoma, but I'm curious about the KO2's. How are they in the snow in comparison? I hear they are quieter on road at least.

k02 are the best tires for 3rd gen. You won't be disappointed.

My buddy from WI switched to Duratracs (265/75/16) from KO2s (same size) BECAUSE of snow. He has a 3rd gen as well.

He previously had Duratracs on his 2nd gen but wanted to try the KO2s for his 3rd gen. He said grip is not as great on the KO2s when it comes to snow. He also noted that KO2s don't self clean very well (snow and mud).

I also have Duratracs on my 3rd gen. Never felt the lack of grip/control on the occasional Tahoe trip during winter.

I just spent a year on KO2s and now run duratracs. KO2s are not good at all in any packed snow condition. They are okay going through medium depth snow that allows them to get traction with ground, but as soon as the conditions get slippery all bets are off. It will really depend what type of snow condition you are going to be experiencing.

A note of road manners as well: from my experience switching, the duratracs whine more, but KO2s have much more vibration.

Is this because of the "bro" factor?

Seriously though, why are the the best for 3rd gen?

Purchased duratracs because of the c load.2657516. I also have heard from a few old timers about ko2's and their snow/wet traction lacking which helped my decide on duratracs. when I pull up to an intersection in Huntington Beach I see about 3 other cars with ko2's. it's nice to be a little different

I've been debating this for my FJZ80 Land Cruiser. I'm leaning towards the KO2. Much different weight distribution than my Tacoma. Tacoma is supposed to be 3950 and the 80 is 4760, but the 80 feels much heavier and the weight isn't all in front. I just want snow rated tires since it will be living in Durango, CO once I get it up there.

Had ko2's on my 14 tacoma and duratracs on my dodge for 5ish years now. The duratrac is by far a greater snow tire. Put duratracs on my 3gen. Ftmfw

The ko2 does look like a slicker, more bro beast of a tire!! But the duratrac outperforms!! I take performance over looks! Cuz in reality they look sick on a taco.

I've had neither, was going to go Duratracs, but have decided to go with Cooper AT/W's. More road oriented, but hopefully will be just as good or better on Snow and Ice. I was concerned the Duratracs would be/get too noisy.

I see more snow issues then mud. I have chains as well if the going gets tough.

Depending on where you are, it can actually be good to get dedicated winter tires.
