I've currently got 887's w/ 5100's (at 0) up front. I'm thinking I may replace my CBI hidden hitch (may sell it on here) with an aluminum bumper and just permanently mount the winch.

My lift right now is just about perfect height and I don't want to lose too much.

So my question is, am I asking too much of my setup weight wise?

Warn lists my VR-10000s at 64lbs
Aluminess bumper is at 70lbs (seems pretty typical for alum bumper weight)
so that is adding 134lbs, but I'll be removing the hidden hitch that weighs 50lbs
So really only adding 84lbs to my current setup.

Also, the Allpro skid and shrockwork sliders aren't going anywhere.

Honestly, if I had planned it out better I would have just once with 886s and a steel bumper, but it is what it is and I don't want to change my suspension.

    Any help appreciated.

I'm running 887's with an ARB bumper, winch, and full skids and sliders (I used to have 886's and didn't like those). I love this setup. I did add some 10mm spacers to keep the ride hight where I wanted. The specifics are in my build thread.

Thanks! That ARB is pretty heavy as I understand. Glad to hear it is working well for you. Hopefully I won't have to add spacers with just an alum bumper, synthetic line on the winch and only the IFS skid.

Any others with some input on how your 887's are handling some additional weight up front?

I'll chime in as well - I have 887s and OME shocks - Aluminess bumper - and M8000S winch with synthetic line. It rides great. With top plate spacers I have almost exactly 3" lift. 887s pair great with a lighter bumper/winch setup.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping. I'm betting your M8000s is about the same weight as the VR1000s. I have some spare spacers, but If I keep over 2.5in after installing the bumper/winch, I may leave them out.

Does the Aluminess give you a lot of extra wind noise out of curiousity?

I don't notice more wind noise but it's already a kind of a noisy truck. I did lift, tires, bumper, etc. all within a short period of time so kind of hard to isolate what came from where.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. I like the Aluminess bumper, but have not for sure decided. Definitely going with an aluminum.

I have 887s, bilstein 5100s as well with an arb up front. No winch on it, but the 887 coils seem to handle it pretty well. I think it ended up lowering the front down about an inch with the weight of just the bumper

old thread, but still on my mind.... Do you have any issues with too much down travel with the spacer and 887s?

I had a 1/4in spacer on the L side for driver lean that caused some problems for me (that is without much additional weight at that time), but I think it was related to the 887 plus spacer causing the total lift to be over 3in.

Haven't noticed any issues - no clunks or harsh bottoming. I guess the ultimate test is how well balljoints and other parts hold up over time. So far so good

I did not. I probably should in the near future, but the alignment is in spec and it doesn't dart all over the road.

Thanks! Does the aluminess bumper have enough gap when flexing so it doesn't hit the fenders? Honestly I'm kind of surprised that they don't seem to be that popular.

@danbow did you end up adding a spacer on top of the 887s? I've got them and I'm adding a winch up front with a hidden mount. Planning to add the 13mm top plate spacer.

I do not have spacers right now. I'm getting right at 2.5inch with the extra weight of the front reciever and IFS skid. Not sure if my sliders are affecting it much. I bet you will want spacers if you have a winch up there full time. There is a noticeable additional sag when I have my winch hooked up in the front, but I haven't measured it.

Hmm, thanks for the info. I'll be adding my spacers next Friday. They supposedly add another inch, so I'm hoping the winch and mount won't sag it down further than that.
