Prime, if I had to do it over I would have purchased at Berlin, they were straight forward, nice to deal with, but prime is closer and bigger and convinced me they could get the truck easier than Berlin could. I think I got a better deal with prime in the end than I would have with Berlin as well

This sort of sounds like an issue I had on my 16 Taco. The dealer said it was a faulty brake switch. This faulty brake switch made the Tacoma think I was pressing the brakes while accelerating causing it to go in to a limp mode while making a left turn in to an intersection. The truck would accelerate then cut off all the power while the accelerator was pressed.

Mine did the exact same thing today. I nailed the pedal to the floor to avoid some idiot and my truck "died" The RPMS were at+- 3500 but I wasn't moving an inch. Good thing the other driver realized I was there and didn't hit me. It was the most bizarre thing that has ever happened. I tried to replicate the problem the whole was home but I couldn't make it happen again...WTH?

Come to a complete stop, then mash the gas, will most likely happen again. Its not every time, but it happens alot.

Does it do it with traction control disabled? I know it's been asked multiple times but has anyone tried it? Instead of looking for the TC light to illuminate when the symptom happens, try reproducing the symptom when you know for sure TC is disabled.

Does anyone know if TC is completely turned off when disabled or is it "kind of turned off" and will re-engage if it thinks we're being complete lunatics? Some vehicles will only limit how much nanny aids can be circumvented, not sure about the 3rd gen.

How sensitive is the inertia switch and accelerometer? If you swerve too quickly it cuts cruise control, and any sudden movements will activate VSS. Perhaps this is cutting fuel/throttle?

I believe it is off, I have messed around a little bit, spun the tires basically. Once we get some real snow up here, I will know for sure.

Ive turned traction control off. Still does it. Its definitely an error in the transmission computer and toyota absolutely knows about it. A brand new one off the lot will do the same exact thing. I've had it hesitate as much as 4 times across an intersection. ?I dont mash the gas much, but maybe 1 o3 2x a week i need to get on it and it royaly pisses me off. It is dangerous as well.

I test drive a new Tacoma on the lot that did this. When getting out unto the busy road and turning right. Had to floor it and it basically the engine went limp. It did it another couple of times during the test, then it stopped doing it. Glad my new one has never done this...

Your not losing the throttle. The RPM's go up but its like the transmission goes into neutral

2016 DCSB TRDOR manual in quicksand
For all you manual guys in this thread I will talk about my experience. I have a large hesitation that occurs anytime I mash the throttle between 1500 and 2000 rpms. it's like the engine cuts out and then takes off again. I just try and avoid it by always keeping the revs above 2000.

Now here is the strange part. my truck did this all last winter. Then last spring at sometime it completely quit. I tried and tried to replicate throughout the summer and it never once did it. Now the even stranger part. about a month and a half ago it started back up and I can replicate 90% of the time?
Is it a coincidence that it happens when winter blend fuel is available? or is it temp related? Thoughts?

My auto trans has always had a delayed kick down when I mash on it also it stutters if I mash on it from a stop. Figured it is just a characteristic of the TirdGen. Dealer told me it's normal

My truck was delivered yesterday '17 DCSB OR. Went to pull out of where I live today, where every now and then it requires a good punch on the accelerator and had this exact problem happen. Lagged for what felt like 2-3 seconds and had traffic laying on the horns. This needs to be addressed ASAP!

    That's a serious safety issue.
