    Hey guys,

Trying to decide between Michelin LTX A/T 2 or Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I mostly do on road driving with the occasional offroading. Tired of how crappy my 10 ply bfgoodrich A/T KO2s ride. :crapstorm: Any opinions with experience how well these two tires handle?

I have no experience with the LTX/AT2 but I've run nothing but LTX/MS 2's on my tocoma, previous Tundras, Land Cruiser and FJ cruiser. Great mileage, smooth and quiet and fit all my road and off-road needs. I don't 4 wheel for the fun of it, but they always get me where I want to go.

I used to run BFG but made the switch the Michelin LTX AT2s and its what I run on my SUV's and Trucks. Awesome in Colorado Snow and Virginia Ice, decent offroad as well but will struggle in mud.

For the life of me I don't understand why Michelin doesn't make the LTX/MS2 in a 6 ply . I run many gravel roads and a 4 ply tire just wont hold up to sharp rocks the size of 2"x 2" , just poke rite threw them . I would have them in a heartbeat if they made them in 6 ply . I HATE the ride of the 8 ply Nitto Grapplers I got ! Looking for something smoother , quieter , lighter tires myself .

TRD Truck I would get the AT2 they run better than some MS tires I had them on a 04 TRD I loved them and they went well with the offroad look of the truck great on the highway

I ran the AT2's for a short time on my Tacoma before selling it. I had gone from almost new 10 ply MS2 to a new set of take-off P rated AT2's so I was in a good position to compare them. (I needed to drop the 10 ply tires for a smoother ride for my wife).

I found the AT2's much louder in comparison and the wet traction wasn't nearly as good. The difference would be even more pronounced on ice. The zigzag siping on the MS2's is what gets you the phenomenal traction. The AT2's still have a great rubber compound but I didn't find that tire to perform at the same level as the MS2. I wouldn't ever buy an AT2 over an MS2 or LTX defender. When I bought the Sequoia the first thing I did was put on a new set of P rated LTX MS2 and I reaffirmed that they're a much nicer tire than the AT2.

to sum up my opinion above from another thread... AT2's are favourably comparable to other tires. The MS2's (Defenders) are in a league of their own.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I ran Cooper ATWs the first 50k on my truck and just switched to the Michelin Defender LTX MS and they are night and day different. I don't know that I'll ever even think of another tire in the future. So quiet. So smooth. Much better handling on the road. No more vibes and rough ride. Do it and don't look back.

...^^^... These are my thoughts exactly and had both AT2's & MS2's.

I liked the beefier look of the AT2's better, but the outside - outter edge of the tire nibs wore off fast.

The MS2's (now Defender) look like the tires on your granny's Crown Vic, but I don't care. From my experiences, the MS2's were far superior to the AT2's on water and wet pavement stopping ... even good on snow and ice.

MS2 ... now Defender .... is my favorite all around tire ... but I do no off-roading.
