Note the "STREET LEGAL" lol didn't say they weren't out there just pretty sure they wouldn't pass a street safety check wipers umm nope drive fast enough don't need them, horn umm nope you can hear me coming from a 1/4 mile off, turn signals umm wait I got a flash light in here somewhere lol and so on. :}

Back in the days of old .. when some folks were a bit touched in the head I heard this story of a person.. taking a 70 1/2 Z28 with a 383 and 4 speed hooked to 4.11 posi for a ride testing out a new wedge for a 750 holley double pumper there was no hood in the way so the air could really flow at 3 am on long straight river road. Well as the story goes there was a few streets that ended at this long straight road by the river and there happened to be a LEO having his coffee sitting on the corner of one of them. Now since there were only header mufflers on this car and it was a straight road the LEO was apparently wide awake when the car went by him in 4th gear with the driver cursing up a storm... so the story goes that is. This road ended at a rotary near a major highway that in 15 minutes would put the driver in another state sadly Motorola over drive was working well that evening. As the car driver was debating getting on the binders and down shifting heading into the rotary what comes around the other side yep a matching set of red and blue lights..to the ones behind him. Well that as the story goes ends that binders and down shift... Since there was not a radar gun on target the car was "Inspected" for safety to the tune of $250 dollars for no hood, rear tires over 1 inch beyond fender wells, front end to low below 6 inches, rear end to high above 10 inches , to much hp to the ground apparently having the piping for nitrous says to much hp... ( heard It got thrown out since no dyno was available to prove it was over 500hp btw NO WHERE NEAR that so I heard closer to 400ish :}) and microdots in the tail lights. In this drivers state there were perhaps even still are some very odd and little known safety rules about street cars.. I also heard this drivers father was NOT AMUSED as he was a LEO and the driver was known to the ones with the red and blues on ... :} Now some driver stories from Texas well .. those are for another day:}

Good luck! Lots of roofs get replaced around here from hail damage, every couple of years get some real bad damage to roofs and vehicles which is usually localized. It isn't too much of an issue for most people but some have had a real battle. Hope all goes well for you. Seems to depend on both the insurance company and the claims adjuster that shows up.

First, welcome! I don't live in the East anymore so can't help you there. But if you can swing it, especially with money added from an insurance settlement, I would seriously go metal. It is growing fast in most places and longevity is better than asphalt by far. I am getting close to needing replacement and will go metal. With trees all around my house, shade and snow load I am lucky to get 15 years on 25 year shingles. And am at 15 now, it is time or real close to it.

 

Welcome!!! My roof is 14 yo. It appeared in good shape until this. I'll know more after the adjuster comes out. If they will only pay around my deductible, then I'll do it without claiming it. I shall see. Turn it in and see what they say, can't hurt. I've been hearing more about metal and will research that. I'll be the first in the neighborhood if I go that way.

x2 on the hail damage. Haven't seen any on mine, but again, haven't been up on the roof in a few years

I have only done one claim in my life, had water damage and interior damage when one of the bedroom roofs collapsed from a freak storm so obviously made a claim. And got a not so nice letter from the insurance company saying that if I made another claim in the next 5 years I would be dropped. Checked around and that seems standard and then you go to a high risk group and pay a fortune. And you have to have insurance, they get you one way or another. So yes before making a claim would make darn sure it is worth it, smart move!

Pick a roofing company to come out and look at it, and let them deal with the insurance. saves headache. it worked well for us. got a new roof for just the deductable.

We have a street Rod section, a custom section ,antique section in our laws.
All gray area. All depends on who stops you. But if you don't act like an ass
All in all your left alone. Except when you have blue gauges that light up the interior. Boy got stopped and had to take all his new gauges out of his car. Blue is police. Garbage

 

I'm pretty flexible. Pick a day (just not this week, unless you wanna hang around till 6), and a place.
