The new one was dead? That's not good to have a battery sit on the shelf like that. Keep those warranty papers!

It's from the front. I stopped at the dealership, had some time to kill before class and they said it was the "pinion seal"

Then the service writer gave me a page that he printed that was a PTFE bushing that replaces the driver side axle bearing, and I guess that's supposed to help wit vibration from the shaft. IS THIS TRUE?

Also there is a TSB for the seals but they won't do it because of the billies......but they will charge me to do the exact same thing with the billies on........and put the bushing in if I buy it.

Put the bug deflector back on my truck this morning, but I can't decide if I like the looks of it with the new bumper...

Sounds like the ECGS bushing. Supposed to be better than the factory bearing. I'd do it but shop the job around a bit before giving it to the dealership if it's not one you want to do on your own.

True, only reason I'm thinking about keeping it is to protect the hood from the antiskid that gets put on the road in the winter. Idk how much it would really help tho.

This exactly. And why the 3 foot long stalk of connector adapters that hangs out of the back of the corner bulb socket?

I can understand the long stalk makes it easier to access the corner mounting point, but there has to be a better way. The headlight has two layers with no barrier to keep the bulb from falling into the inner section. If you don't thread the stalk perfectly, the twist lock holes will pull the bulb out of it's socket. From there, it either falls into the lens or into the gap between layers. I found the best way is to disconnect the wire connector and get it out of the way. Now you only have to deal with 2/3 of the long stalk. The bulb is friction fit and it's not a very tight one. I would use a bit of loctite to make sure it stays in there.
I hope my bulbs last a long time, cause I'm not going through that fun again. I'll gladly pay a Toyota tech to take the risk of bulb replacement.
