Has anyone ran both in snow? I live in Western NY and we get a ton of snow here. I had Duratracs on my 2012 RAM 1500 that I just traded in for at 17 Taco TRD Sport 4x4. I was going to go with the Duratracs again because they did really well in the snow and I liked them quite a bit, but I'm curious about the KO2 snow performance as I hear they're a bit quieter on the road.

Had KO2's on a Dodge......Not impressed. Avoid mud....REAL mud. Any tire can handle a puddle. Avoid wet roads. Wasn't impressed in Snow.

Own Duratracs now. Good in mud. GREAT in snow. Good on wet roads. Wear great. MUCH better tire if you actually go off road. I live in an area where we have a LOT of sharp rocks/shale/slate. Not one single cut, scrape, abrasion, or mark on the Duratracs. 35,000 miles, quite a few of that off road. Best tire for the buck.

A fairly throughout test including the original KO's & the AT3's. Are the KO2's a significant improvement over the originals, possibly... but probably not a big step up from your AT3's.

My vote is in for the Duratrac's. Very good in the snowy stuff I see here in Colorado. I have limited time with them off road, but they have performed admirably there as well.

I ran Duratracs in load range C last winter. They replaced a set of Firestone Winterforce P-metric tires. The Duratracs have a subdued hum at highway speeds reminiscent of a commercial truck tire, but is night and day compared to the loud Winterforces. The Duratracs are also better in the snow.

I have KO2s, just drove over the Coquihalla Hwy with snow and ice on the passes. The KOs worked great, no issues.
I've been in heavy rain and no issues.
Any truck with no weight in the back is going to be not great on ice.
I have a leer canopy and the extra weight helps.
My buddy has duratracs and he took them off this winter for driving to the ski hill, they kept breaking loose on the icy corners.
I also got 60K miles out of my last set of KOs, rotated at most oil changes.

The KO2's do excellent in our heavy mountain snow here and are quiet. The Duratracs are the opposite in my experience. Loud and they are good for getting stuck.

I've had my duratracs for 3+ years now and they have held up like a dream. Only problem is it's been so long the rubber is not nearly as grippy and one slip of the clutch or too much gas at 2500 -3000rpm and you're gettin sideways pretty easily haha

You're like the only one that is saying the KO2's are a better snow tire lol.

Maybe they were in his case... Everyone has different opinions, situations, and interpretations. Thats what makes tire choices so difficult instead of one tire being clearly above the rest.

Just picked up my '17 Tacoma a few days ago so I'm running stock currently. I had Duratracs on my RAM that I traded in and I liked them quite a bit. Did very well in snow/off-road, looked good, fairly low noise. I just see a lot of people using the KO2's on the Taco and was curious about how those compare. I live in western NY and winters can be pretty brutal, but I don't like to run a dedicated snow tire. Duratracs fit the bill for my RAM, but wanted to consider the KO2's as I can get them for less.

It seems to me the majority singing their praises are east of the Rockies. They were miserable tires in deep virgin mountain snow and even worse in the early and late season wet snow. Just about any tread will work fine on hard packed powder snow as it's pretty grippy.

Ran 285 duratracs on my JK and LOVED THEM. Stuck like glue to GA rock and did well in the nasty muddy deer fields. I have 265/75 KO2s on my 17 trd double cab off-road.
Biggest difference to me? The tires feedback from shitty roads.
I ran 33 psi on the JK 285/75/16 and the ride was great. I'm running 40 on the 265/75/16 and it gives me jolts here and there. Very obvious ride change. Another thread was talking about the psi, and it seems like people are running the same.
If I did it again, I'd go back to duratracs in a heartbeat. These KO2s are too stiff. And no I never had sidewall issues with the duratracs, wheeled them heavy too.
