I've got stage 6 installed, and I didn't get a tremendous amount of lift out of the front. I had to max out the driver side just to get it level with the factory setting on the passenger side. May be due to my bumper winch. Anyone have any recommendations? Should I bite the bullet and go with the 700 lb spring?

I wouldn't be completely concerned except that I have a good amount more rubbing than I was expecting on my new tire/wheel setup.

Setup is stage 6, 285/70r17 duratracs, SCS ray10. Additional weight in the front is ~130lb from bumper/winch and maybe +15lb from new battery on driver side.

Fender to hub measurements are ~23.25" in rear, ~22" in front (driver coilovers are maxed out at ~2", passenger untouched).

285/70r17 will likely need a body mount chop to fully eliminate rub.

Yeah I got the chop even before putting the tires on. Really rubs on the metal fender behind the plastic liner. Found some folks locally to cut/hammer/weld so hopefully everything is smooth sailing shortly :)

Southern style off-road slimline bumper. It's actually a steel bumper that just replaces the plastic chin, very sleek and low profile. You can also get with bull bar and light bars if you want that instead.

Finally bit the bullet on an ICON stage 4 kit - i'm going to be running 285/70R17's on it as well. I'm a novice to all of this DIY and don't have a garage that the truck fits in and allows any room to move. Is installing this something I can do on my own? how difficult is it? Any particular speciality tools that i'll need. Keep in mind i live in UT and it's balls cold and snowing now ;) haha

    Thanks

Haha. I'm also in Utah and doing sliders this weekend. Just bought a heater to hopefully heat the garage up enough for painting.

But to your question. It's pretty easy to install. But it all depends on your skill level. Doing it outside will suck. You only really need a basic tool set. Possibly a cutting toll of some sort if you do upper control arms.

haha shit my garage is more of a shed, if i pull the truck in there's not room for a damn thing. what sliders did you go with?

i've got the UCA's that i'll be replacing as well...i've got a decent set of your standard tools. I don't have anything to do the CMC with though.

I think you mean the pinchweld.. We had to pound those back on the 1st gen taco's (for tire clearance).. As soon as I get my lift on, I will know more about the 3rd gens:)

I do believe you're right. I found some folks who are familiar with running 35s, and we sorted everything out. It was all the fender metal behind the fender lining between the cab mount and the flair. Took about an hour to cut, bend and paint. Happy to take pics!

Shouldn't need the cab mount chop. I didn't anyway. I built an entire jeep outside in the winter. So it's doable. Just not fun. Can you pull in close to one side and then work on the other side maybe? You don't need a ton of room to do it. I had to cut my upper control arm bolts off. Some people have posted they didn't have to Seemed easier to just cut them (at least on my 2016). If I recall the biggest socket you need is a 19. Mine only took me a few hours.

The sliders are All Pro. They had a good deal going so I picked them up. Plus they weren't months out like a lot of people.

The beauty of icon sets is they come with good instructions with a great list of all the tools you will need.

CMC will depend on your wheel offset. I had to get one and am very nearly still rubbing.

Ha! Just went through this. You are going to have to cut plastic and metal in that corner in the back. I can get you some pictures if you like.

It's the big offset on the ray10s that put the wheel corners there.

Yes pics please. I'll need someone else to do it as I don't have the tools.
