I'm not sure if you guys know how business works but Jordan is doing this solo.
Sure you may be able to get free shipping from ebay or Amazon, but those are bigger companies with bigger volume of products so they can afford to discount their products a lot more than a mom and pop shop would be able to.

I personally don't mind paying a couple bucks extra to support a person's solo business who is just starting up than a company who's already making Thousands.

Is it really a solo business when someone extends his employee discount to a group of people and then profits off the shipping?

I might be a little sensitive as I live in Hawaii and shipping costs are usually high, even with deals like this. So I admit, I'm a little annoyed to see the OP admit he is making $4 on shipping costs, yikes! Plus he seems to have an attitude.

Solo business. He works for a dealer who pays his salary.

This isn't a one sided deal here. The guy is not only making money on the shipping but also on every single thing he sells via the website. $85 for a bedmat that they probably pay a third for, the margins must insane. Im not knocking dealerships for making money, that is what they are in business for, but I also wont be that guy that is naive to believe they are doing us a favor as well.

 

It's funny how different the replies are in this thread compared to the same thread going on in 3rd Gen

 

Come on guys he is just trying to do something nice for us! Quit whining and say thank you, and don't run it it his face if you can get a better deal . Like with anything just shop and take advantage of what's there. He is just giving us another great option! Jeez!

You're right. I do have an attitude.

I work 5 days a week, hourly. No commission. I completely redesigned the entire website. I was the one that convinced my boss to give TacomaWorld members employee pricing. I take every order, i process every order, I package ever order and I ship every order. me. ONLY me.

So if you were working your ass off to try and help a community of over 30,000 people, for no other reason that you want to help them... you would certainly be a little upset when someone accuses you of doing bad business, youd cop an attitude too.

I charge extra for shipping because I have to pay for my tape, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, boxes, and labels. Im not going to apologize for doing what ever other business does on the planet. I believe in doing good business. Im already giving everyone employee pricing on ever single part on our website. I personally cater to every single person on Tacoma World. Theres no team. its just me.

THAT is why I have a chip on my shoulder, that is why I have an attitude. Because I am trying to help people, to the best of my ability.

 

To be honest. I'm hourly, and I get paid a lot less than you think. On top of that, I dont get commission, not one penny.

So please, before you go spreading lies, check all of your facts and know the truth. Because quite literally everything you said was dead wrong.

 

Keep in mind there is more to shipping an item than just paying the shipping company. Somebody has to pack it up and process the shipment. If Titus Will is padding their shipping charges a bit, it's completely understandable as there are additional costs involved. Not only that, but selling and shipping an online order consumes more manpower than selling the same item to someone who walks into the parts department to buy it. If you can get a better deal at your local dealer (or Amazon or Ebay or wherever), then buy your stuff there, but there's no need to give the man any grief about it. I will say that no other Toyota dealers have offered to let me buy my parts and accessories at employee cost, so that does say quite a bit about Jordan.

and just for the record, Bed Mats are $82.18 on my website and they cost our dealership $70.00 from toyota.

So your assumption of my cost being 1/3 of the internet price, isnt only incorrect... its absurd.
