I'd rather not think of all the $ spent :(
That house nice but I don't know prices in that area. I am confused that it says it sold for 323k in 2009. Why did it lose so much value? Is it near good schools? Or do you need that? I've been gone from bama since the 90's and back for 5 years in 2003. Seems cheap for me up here lol!

The info below isn't always accurate I never follow that on zillow. I only use it for pictures and list price lol. I do want land, but that's a future thing. I would rather be in huntsville and I won't find an acre or more for my price range. the garage is buildable that's why it's probably the item I can "live without" most in a house for the beginning.

Then that would probably work, as long as it doesn't have an HOA.

Nope no HOA. that's a requirement for me lol. honestly 0.7 acre is about the best you can find in South huntsville for less than 200k too. which is sad.

Other than a wife a house will be your biggest investment.

Take a deep breath and look at more houses. I have lived in a house with a fairly steep slope and don't recommend it.

You are wise to look at buying instead of renting or buying a condo though.

You are young, just think it through before jumping into a 30 year mortgage. I have confidence you will make a good decision.

Yeah I get that. I'm not going to settle lol, I was simply asking if you guys knew anything to look for in a house like that that might not stand out to me. I'm also not making a 30 year plan with this home. probably a 5-10 year plan till I get married (hopefully) then as a family go a different direction. some of you did or are doing the relationship part first so you had the person to make life decisions with.

The yard really is my only reservation but it's not as bad as the photos make it seem. I looked at one the other day the slope was so bad it had foundation and water management issues I didn't even walk inside lol.

Things I look foron a house....
    How clean is it?

If driveway is concrete see how cracked and unlevel it is-a sign of ground/foundation problems

    The house brick outside?=less maint

If there is brick is a corner sagging? Are there loose bricks? Are there cracks that run diaganoly? Foundation signs

The inside- does it smell clean? Or like febreeze?

How are the appliances? Would you be happy cooking on them and living with them for 5 years?

The floors? 2 story home with basement? How does the floor feel under your toes. Take your shoes off. Are the floors even ? Carpet? In good shape?

The windows? How are they? Aluminum frame? Vinyl? Double pane? Do you feel the cold air from outside next to them? Or you still feel warm?

The Air conditioning system? How old? It's like a mattress. After 8 years expect problems.

    The roof in good shape?

I say all of that to say this. I look at the functional side of things. Is it of good quality? Will I have to put money into major purchases within the first year? The wall colors and floor coverings and other crap can be done to your liking. But the bones of the home are expensive to do that to.

Literally like the exact checklist I run through on a house. Glad to know I'm not really missing anything though.

good information. I definitely will have a good house inspector.

Alright help me out here guys. In the works with Eddy at SOS to get skid plates that he's going to bring next weekend to Choccolocco. Trying to decide which Tcase skid would fit so I sent him a picture of my exhaust. I assumed my exhaust was stock but he said it is not routed like stock. I have a Magnaflow catback that you can see in the pic, but can somebody show me what stock routing looks like? Also, what do you recommend I do?
