With plate bumpers you would not be happy. The tires you can fit don't really have much to do with how much lift you have tho as demonstrated here

That guy is trimmed up.. i wouldnt say lift doesnt have much to do with fittin tires. Those look like some pretty narrow tires too

How will I not be happy with plate bumpers? My truck has just as much suspension travel as you average 3" lift but is instead in the middle of its travel instead of near full drop when static.
Front bumper will be built this week since I just got my winch delivered yesterday. Already has a rear bumper and tire carrier in the back.

It's the simple fact that your stock suspension will not perform well with that much added weight

Lift has basically nothing to do with what tires you can fit. Trimming has everything to do with it but ifs suspension lift does not help you not have to trim to fit 35s. I'm trimmed up as well:thumbsup:. 35s will hit the cab mount, firewall, frame, and ucas with no lift or 5" of lift if you are cycling the suspension off road

with the winch and front bumper on stock suspension, you will not be happy with the ride, especially if you do any kind of off road (which usually involves skids and sliders as well) this is coming from someone who has been there

Then I don't understand why you think stock suspension is going to perform well with so much extra weight

I installed BORA 1.5 inch wheel spacers.
I think I can feel a difference in increased turning grip and stability probably because of the wider stance, and softer ride presumably because the wheels being further out gives them more leverage on the springs.

    IMG_2823.jpgIMG_2809.jpgIMG_2812.jpgIMG_2797.jpg

I used a dowel between the studs and the floor to stop the front hub from moving while I torqued the nuts on.

My passenger side rear wheel is 1/2 inch further away from the frame than the driver side rear. I measured everything and called the dealer and Toyota hq, nothing. Anyone ever have this corrected? A web search shows other had the same problem before so just wondering if anyone has gotten a straight answer about it.

Check out these before and after.

Stock suspension isn't designed to perform well off-road as it is, nothing about little travel and off-road makes sense. I don't see a point in modifying and putting money into the front suspension as I am planning to put a 9" up front once the truck is payed off. Untill then, the extra houndred and fifty pounds of winch and bumper won't be the end of the world, at most my wife will probably get me a set of 5100s to level the front as she doesn't like how much take it has stock.

I see, well what I meant by my original post is that with that much weight on that set up off-road, you will bounce up and down too much and hit rocks, but you already know that. obviously you will be much happier after you throw on a 9"

I look forward to seeing it sasd

Anything I should be looking for specifically? I'm actually concerned that something is loose in my front suspension, it just doesn't feel right, but I can't figure out what. I was planning to just take it in somewhere for an inspection from someone who actually knows what to look for.

Well today I was gonna put my sliders on and sheared the head off of a bolt that needed to be removed for the install. Now I need to spend my time figuring out how to get it out without having to re tap the hole :annoyed::frusty: I've got a set of stripped screw removers. Hopefully they'll work. Ill try it tomorrow :fingerscrossed:

You should look into the poly carrier bearings I believe there is a group buy for them on the forum somewhere if I can dig it up I'll pot it here.

    Edit: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...uy-iedls-polyurethane-carrier-bearing.421410/

It might be something you're interested in. from what I've heard the carrier bearing will wear out faster from towing often...idk if that's true but if you tow often that bearing seems pretty nice

Not exactly to my truck, but it's for the spare tire on the back of the rig I tow with my second gen.

I almost skipped out on getting a bedrug and I'm glad I didn't. My toddler loves hanging out in the back of the truck. My wife likes it too. quick question, what kind of shell do you have? I couldn't fit my cleats with my leer.
