    could you please give me advice as i want some changes on my current setup which is below:

    Car uses negative polarity on Headlights

    so i have installed 24inch led light bar comes on when you cycle the high beams on and cuts off when you cycle them off my current wiring is below,

    Using a standard 30 amp 4 pin relay, the wiring is as follows:

    *Pin 30 goes right to the battery with a 15 amp fuse in-line
    *Pin 87 goes to the 12+ input of the LED light bar
    *Pins 85 and 86 go directly to the wires in the plug for the high beam light bulb. Polarization doesn't matter with these wires (doesn't matter which is + and which is - either way they're just completing the circuit and tripping the relay)

    Then i have ground the - wire on the LED light bar and that is it, they kick on with the high beams.

    that is what i am trying to achieve now

    I want to be able to have the bar;
    - Come on automatically when the high beams are flicked on (this option i have it and dont wanna loose)
    - Be able to turn the bar on and off while high beams are engaged for in town driving
    - On a switch so that it can come on independently when the high beams are off

    can you please advice me how to make this happen?

    I did something similar with my reverse lights. Rather than explaining it, I'll just post a picture below. I used a 1000V diode to do this. For me, though, I can't turn my LEDs off while reverse lights are off.

    thank you i am still looking for more options/ways to do this like u said u cant turn your leds on when reverse is off

    Why not just run the lights whenever your high beams are on? My logic on my old setup was that if my high beams are on I'm likely blinding anyone ahead of me anyway so may as well run the bar at the same time lol. I'll do some thinking and post back if I can't figure something out without a ton of relays and diodes.

    i agree with benrpd, but if you really want to go your way you'll have to throw a switch into what you've already got, then get another switched power line to the lights that will bypass the high-beam relay business.

    That is the setup i currently have they come on when high beams are on,

    I want to do this because i want to be able to use the light bar with my high beams and low beams while driving. i want to be able to have it come on whenever i demand it

    I also want to be able to use the light as a spot light independant of the headlights. Since the led has such a low draw, i will probably, at times, use it with the car off and want to be able to turn it on independant of whatever else i have on or off.

    i know the fact i do need an on off on switch (DPDT but how to wire it to my current setup

    The diagram I have above allows you to turn the LED bar on either with your high beams, or with a switch when your high beams are off and not have power backfeed into your high beams. For my setup, I have a diode there because I don't want my reverse lights on when my LED lights in the back turn on. No real reason other than it looks half-assed when both sets come on with a switch.

    ok thank you just to confirm does the polarity of my headlights being negative makes any difference in wiring

    I'm waiting on led pods in the mail to do the same and didn't even think about the diode but that's a great idea :)

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. Polarity in diodes matters because current can only pass one way through diodes (LEDs included). The control side of the relay (85 and 86) are not polarity specific, no. You can ground either 85 or 86 and the relay will energize.

    For my setup, no. I used an illuminated SPST switch.

    I know it's not the end of the world having both the reverse lights and the auxiliary lights come on, but I find it looks sloppy when you're only wanting to use the auxiliary lights.
