A/C smells like $***

Everytime i turn on the a/c, my truck from the inside smells, why is that?? any information on it. I try and find the problem and I cant. has anyone has the same problem as me..

Cabin air filter? Dead rodent in ducting?

 

X2, check your filter. If its not that, I dont know then. Maybe you have a dead rodent in there somewhere!!

 

A/C? In February?
It was 9 degrees when I woke up this morning.

 

Walmart has a "fresh scent" cabin filter, it has baking soda in it to help reduce that $*** smell.

 

it start to smell 2 or 3 weeks ago.. i checked the cabin air filter and it was clean. I'll take it off and see how it goes.

spray some febreeze in the cowl panel with the air on high so it will suck it up in there real good

To help prevent this smell in the future, turn off the ac with the fan still on a few minutes before you reach your destination. It will help dry out the condensation in the ducting which in turn will reduce the chance of odor. I know this has worked for me on several vehicles including my Tacoma.

Also, make sure your inside drain line isn't plugged for the condensor. If you've got water sitting in there creating mold, just masking the smell isn't a good idea. Remember, you create condensation in there when running it on floor/defrost or defrost since the a/c compressor runs on those settings (of course, the fan has to be on).

 

Maybe someone did an upper decker in your filter.

Man, I experiance the same smell...I think I need to change the cabin filter.

 

But the baking soda will reduce the airflow from the vents. I bought a Fram from Amazon . If you normally use the 2nd fan speed you will need the third. I like the finer aromas but the reduced airflow is a bad tradeoff.

Plus I have found an improvement if you turn off the recirculate switch a few seconds before you turn off the car, this opens up the ductword to the open air even thought the fan isnt running.
