I am just waiting for someone to finally say "my transmission blowed up. It blowed up real good !!!" That's the only thing we haven't heard (yet). Not wishing any harm but damn 140 pages later and we still be bitchin about everything on page 1. I don't expect to see Santa driving a Tacoma December 24th. He will probably be in a Ford.

Highly unlikely. Just because the transmission doesn't shift the way we want it to certainly doesn't mean it's going to fail. Hopefully sooner rather than later, Toyota will finally get the programming figured out. That's all it needs to make it perfect.

We obviously have extremely different opinions of perfect. My 2000 and 2008 were perfect.

So sell your 16 and buy a 2nd gen, simple as that.

No. I do love the truck. Just disappointed that my 1 year service will include a 2nd transmission "fix". Still better than my previous Toyotas in general. Way better look, feel, options and mpg. I certainly expected this crap to be resolved before the 2017 models but sounds like they have the same issues. If everyone with transmission issues sold their 2016/2017 then, for the lucky handful with no issues, they would be totally worthless for resale because lots would be overflowing with them. Thank God we have a warranty. If I didn't put over $18k down on mine it would have been sold. Owing only $10k on it I am committed to keeping it (for now anyway).

Sorry for the whining. Tomorrow is Friday. I drive my Tacoma to work on Fridays. Figure I will get this off my chest before I drive it again. Just cannot wait for the day we can close this thread. Maybe when Rev 12 comes out.

I hear you there....had my truck out this am to run errands, had it in D and when we were going along at about 40mph the truck was doing 1100 rpm and it was bucking and hopping like crazy until I gave it some gas and it downshifted...I don't care how much you love toyotas there's no reason it should be bucking and surging like that..overdrive or not it's not acceptable.

yea. I try not to come to quick stops when cold and that helps. The quicker I stop, the harsher the clunk it seems. probably normal though.

My Tacoma is and has been behaving in the manner of which you described. 10K service performed today as well as 0077-16 Rev.1, will log some miles and will report back results, keep the faith , Toyota will surely respond to our concerns, perhaps this is the FIX, only time and miles will reveal.

Clunks are not normal, I've never had a clunk no matter how hard I had to stop. Generally that's a fluid issue but who knows.

I'm feeling some harsh disengagements after 300 miles or so. wouldn't call it a clunk but it seems most noticeable after a strong throttle input followed by braking in traffic

I'm sure this has been answered, but I don't want to go sifting through all these pages.

Is Rev 1 of this TSB actually an update to the programming from the original (Rev 0), or was it just an update to the text in the TSB document to add additional issues to allow for the TSB to installed on more vehicles?

Perhaps enhancements for three issues, delayed engagement park to drive, delayed up shift while c/ engaged, harsh 1st-2nd up shift , most notable and by far the most concerning Busy shift like hunting gear behavior when driving on highway speed/ slight grade. Might be tweaking or just adding another item to 0077-16, exposure to driving will determine if this is indeed " The Fix" , TBD after a few mikes logged.

Yes, it's a new version of the ECU/TCU software which is an update to and builds on the fixes in the first Revision 0.

The first TSB released in July solved all those issues.

likewise, i had the rev 1 done this past Monday, i can say that it is way better than before as far a shifting goes during acceleration but could be better, however the downshifting when coming to a stop is still rough and when cold i get a clunk here and there. sometimes it downshifts perfectly and sometimes it don't. i can't seem to pinpoint anything that makes it better or worse. I spoke to my Toyota claims rep today and he pretty much don't have any more answers except that he is reporting all my feedback to engineering and they are working on updates but he would not admit that this is a know issue. He did however tell me he would be willing to work on a buy back through toyota if i am not satisfied but the process takes about 30 days and its not guaranteed that they would actually do it, or try to put me in another tacoma which at this point i feel i would be starting over again with possibly the same issues. i opted to keep this case open and documented and see if more updates come out. I feel like we have windows trucks instead of Toyotas with all this update stuff.

I have a feeling I'll be in the same boat come next week. I'd be interested to hear more about the buyback program if this newest route doesn't correct the issues. No point in driving a truck that needs to go in for service as often as has been happening lately.
