Along with the check engine light, I've noticed a slight fuel odor along with hesitation under load.

I changed the gas cap with no change.

Thinking it might be the charcoal canister.

Would this code cause a full throttle hesitation?

Check all the vacuum lines going to the canister for a possible leak.

Yes, change all vacuum lines because I'm sure they're original. They need to be changed. Next, yes, get a charcoal canister. After 200k miles or so, your canister IS clogged. It will be good for your truck and gas mileage anyways.

I'll get on it. In the mean time I'm going to clear the code and see if my hesitation goes away.
My truck goes in for a new frame soon so I'm sure the dealer would be more than happy to change the canister for a small fee...lol

Possible leak found. Not 100% sure this was the issue but I found the evap hose that connects to the air box cracked in half.
I repaired it and reset the CEL. Hopefully that was the issue, time will tell I guess.
