Looked at ARE and LEER (no Snugtop dealers around here that I know of), and decided I just liked the lines on the LEER better.

Yeah $2900 is steep! I'd shop around for a better quote then that

I shopped for about two weeks before I found the price I was willing to pay...

I guess I might have to go out of state in order to get a camper shell after hearing all these prices! The price for a Snugtop is $3500. $600 more than a Leer! I can't believe that!

Also agree $2900 for the 180 seems high. Paid $2200 for the 100r with the roof rack (and aero bars), fold down front window, pet screens, and tax.

Damn, I guess the west coast just sucks when it comes to buying camper shells! Haha

I talked to a guy named Dan he has the deals!

Unfortunately he's in Denver Colorado a long ass drive for me here in Austin Texas. But he quoted me 1355 for an ARE v series with what I said earlier

If it's not to far of a drive that's where I'd go!

Windoors would be pointless for me. With a 2.5" lift, added 33" tires, and standing at 5'6" I couldn't reach through them to get anything anyhow. LOL

Holy crap. My local Snugtop dealer quoted me $2,500 for a Rebel with basically everything but windoors. Electronic locks, LED light strip (hard wired into the truck), fold down front window, reinforced roof, pet screens... something I'm missing I'm sure. I thought $2,500 was steep.

If you use those 33" tires as a step ladder you should be able to get in the Windoors just fine

IMG_0549.jpg I just got a snugtop rebel for about 2400 in Santa Rosa. One Windoor one pet screen and led light. I'm very happy with it. Got it 2 days ago. Need to wash the truck so it doesn't look funny so clean vs dirty truck. The leer was a few hundred cheaper but didn't come carpeted it was a hundred or so extra so it was about the same and the snug top is a bit stronger like others said different construction techniques. My dad has a snugtop on his 02 f150 he bought in new 1997 that's still in flawless condition.

Do you have a link to this?
Most dealers offer the carpet for free but the rebate would be cool.

I've got it on my laptop. It looks like they removed the PDF from their site. I can post it tomorrow.

I never considered the snugtop(rebel in my case), because the lines of the windows just don't match the truck. This could only be true for the models I was considering, though ... as I did see a few snugs that had a better shape.

I didn't like the A.R.E. X, CX, or MX either, because the shape of the windoors do not match the window recess for that mold. The windoors have rounded edges, while the recess comes to more of a point.

Leer 100xr was in the running, but I saw many complaints about their windoors leaking, as well as the customer service being terrible. I also didn't like the look of it from the rear.

The A.R.E. Overland intrigued me, but in the end I found out the V series was essentially the same thing minus the black liner stripe on the outside. This appealed to me even more.

For the V series, I wasn't crazy about the rear door hinges, or the lack of keyless entry option, but the look and functionality really worked for me otherwise.

The MX is 1450(to start) installed at the dealer I ended up at (ishler's truck caps). Definitely shop around, the next closest quote I got in my case was +450 ... all the way up to+700 of what I ended up paying.

Yes the have a 100 off instant and a 100 mail in but that offer ended I just tried to use it

And you can't use that coupon on the v services but you can use the free carpet on the v series that's what I did

This is what I REALLY wanted, but windoors (absolute must for me) just don't make sense for this model ... even if it were an available option.

I agree, both are great toppers. I went with an ARE for my 2nd gen, mainly due to price. Surprisingly, the ARE with Windoors, front fold down glass, headliner and Yakima rack was less expensive than an similarly equiped Leer. I paid roughly $2,200 otd.
