First post in this section! Technically yesterday, but had to wait for this morning for pictures since after I finished this process it was already dark out. Washed, clayed, Black Light gloss/sealant, Jet Seal, Butter Wet Wax....

I've never spent this much time cleaning any of the vehicles I've owned, but then I've never loved one as much as this either. Looking forward to changing out my chrome braces, blacking out emblems, getting a cap, etc etc. All in due time. Thanks for all the great ideas so far. My wife/wallet hates you guys

I wish you the best of luck finding a good '85 in decent shape that is not unrealistically priced. My first Tacoma was an '82 with the 22R engine, I have been looking for one for years with no luck at all. I was 21 when I bought it, was just before I moved to the beach and to this day still the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have so many great memories while owning that truck. If it wasn't totaled with just over 450k miles on it I would probably still own it.

I know it's going to be tough.. But it will be fun to find one. That was a fun truck and so cheap to maintain.

My local off-road[ish] shop is offering me $750 for my suspension install + alignment. Does this seem like a decent deal? I don't really have any of the time or tools to do it myself, although I would prefer it.

Being that he only paid 42k, not bad for him. That's why until I purchased my current Tacoma, I always buy new vehicles that are a model year old, they are usually heavily discounted. Even the Tacoma's take a huge hit, back in Sept I was thinking of trading my Tacoma for a Tundra and was offered 11k less as a trade than what I payed. All new vehicles take a hit, just the domestics seem to take a bigger one.

Cool, good to know. I think I might take them up on this, if only to have a professional do it. I'm knowledgeable enough to install it myself, but I have none of the tools and I've never done it. Seems like a good way to break something by accident.

I agree, the Tundra definitely needs an update. I'll most likely get back in a full size truck one day once I don't take such a hit on trade in. I have a disability that will continue to get worse making it really hard to get in my Tacoma and I'll need the extra space and ease of getting in a full size truck. Until than I will continue to love my Tacoma!

You've been busy Jim! Nice added touches and clean install. I like the addition of the electric fuel door and heated washer fluid. Where did you purchase these 2 items? I definitely want to do the fuel door and possibly the heated washer fluid. Thanks in advance.

Just happened to me. I was driving around the neighborhood slowly. Lots of slow stops and starts. I got gas. While getting gas I turned the truck on to ignition to check the trip odo (no foot on brake, two presses on the PTS). Shut off the truck. Filled up the tank. Drove three blocks (again really slowly) then this popped up. Drove half a block (at my house now) shut it off. Waited 5 secs turned it back on, and no error.

I think i successfully made a "build page". Take a look if you're interested. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/louies-build-2016-trd-off-road-double-cab.417631/
15K service. I asked them for the latest tranny tsb. I had the first one done at 10k and loved the change. At that time they put a sticker on the underside of the hood to indicate the tsb change. No new sticker this time or update to anything. Makes me wonder if they really did the rev1 update this time. I also asked for the latest update to my radio. Seems like Pandora has been acting stupid lately. They said they did an update to that as well but who knows.
