You will not like the fact it doesn't have a garage. I lived in a house with a carport like that. Just not the same. Hold out for a garage, unless you immediately plan on building a shop out back.

 

Not immediately, but one day. Problem is nobody's garage is built to allow my truck to fit into it, I'm too tall. Especially when I get roof racks and my tent on. So I'm going to have to build one anyways. That's why I'm ok with that being my item I miss out on in the initial purchase.

 

Scotty, you are obviously a very intelligent guy. I have confidence you will weigh the pros and cons of any home purchase you make. You may notice I used home instead of house. By selecting the right house it is easier to make it your home.....even more so when you have a family.

I have owned 4 primary homes and a couple of weekend homes. The primary homes I had built after having the house plans drawn to the specs my wife and I chose. In spite of this we saw things we would do differently in all 4 of them.

I like your idea about shorter term financing and can tell you from experience that living in a home with no mortgage is the greatest feeling of freedom you can have.
