I just received a set of 4500k Morimoto HID with the 35w ballast. After revisiting this thread I'm a little nervous :(

Installing this weekend, and will report back.

    Hi there,
So I have read a lot of posts on this thread. Wow there is a lot!
I bought the OPT7 LEDs and they look good and have ok output on a dry day. But as soon as road is wet, can't see a damn thing. So I am looking now at the Morimoto 50w 5500k.
    1. Why do people tend to go 35w instead of 55w? Just trying to avoid extra draw on battery? Are the 50's to blinding even angled down?
    2. They do have the H11B bulb and that seems the way to go. Has this been confirmed that the shake is gone or better?
    3. When ordering, you guys get the regular HD harness? Nothing additional?

    Thanks!

I went 35w for the longevity. I know that 50w burns the bulbs quicker, and is more heat. I didn't want to lose a bulb out in the sticks.

I have the 4500k bulbs and mentioned many times that they don't bounce.

It's only been an issue because one person mentioned it here it seems. Anyone who isn't on the forum doesn't seem to have the issue.

I installed 50w 5500k kit with the enhanced seals. I'm not noticing an issue.

I know it's a shotty vid, but if you focus on the center beams. You can see the lateral (side to side) motion and a circular motion to the beams. If you look off to the sides you'll miss it. Hard to get on camera. This is on the smoother section of the beach (tide cleanes it up) high beams and fogs are off.

Driving over bumps, and it's a stick... I apologized in advance, no need to point out the obvious

What are the enhanced seals? Do the come with the 35w and 50w kit? Why 50w?

They're the firmer seals that come with the light kit. I used those initially and still had the jitters. They were terrible off road at night , and when I hit expansion joints on the freeway, they jiggled up and down like those glasses with the springy eyeballs.
The jitter was even on both sides of the lamp units. When it did jitter, it was a very brief LED PWM-like flicker when looking forward at night. This is to give those who have played with hi-flux LED output settings an idea.

I've since changed the seals to another brand that aren't tapered. I previously mentioned a few posts ago, the jitters have gone away by at least 50% during normal driving.

They're THE WORST thing about the system, but the output is one of the best.

Installed the 35w 4500 kit today. I had no reason to be nervous. All the components are top-notch, and the install was easy, even for someone who has only been under the hood of a car once.

Cut-off is sharp, and the dreaded jitters are nowhere to be seen. The output is super sharp and really well defined. You can see the cut-off move as you go over bumps, but it's due to the motion of the whole truck, not wobbly bulbs. The color is great, looks pretty much OEM, there's a bit of blue around the cut-off, but most of the spread is a really natural looking light.

Seems hit or miss on the jiggles, but I've taken multiple videos over the last year.. the actual cause still goes unknown.

Either way, the lights are bright and clear. I just die inside a little bit each time I see it wiggle around

I can feel you there. Mine still aren't bouncing either. I bought the 35W kit. I wonder if there's a difference there as well.

I have had my morimotos for about 6 months and one of the most noticeable upgrades and so far very reliable. I recently went through some deep puddles and water and debris got on them and had no issues. I would be surprised if ANY hid kits could match the customization and reliability that these offer. Also TRS is to me very competitive when searching for morimoto products and are experts with lighting and installs. I have also torn my lights apart to install new projectors as well without issue and even made a basic build thread just for that in my sig!
