Have a 2002 SR5 Prerunner and are getting a "shudder" when breaking..
    Possible bad front discs?

Any recommendations on pads and discs?

Probably time for some new rotors.... I like the EBC brake kits for a nice upgrade.

This shudder include any pulsation felt at the brake pedal ?

    Lack of stopping ability ?

Steering wheel shimmy when B. pedal pressure applied ?

Any brake fluid leaking on pads ? (visual)

    Occurance at any speed ?

    I recommend rotors that aren't warped... :)

    That's the mostly likely cause.

Depending on how much material is left, and how bad the warp is, you cound get them machined flat again. Honestly, though, I just buy new rotors unless the rotors are still pretty new.

I like rockauto and autopartswarehouse for my parts needs. I've used EBC for the last 10+ years, and I've been happy.

I have a question for you guys. I am getting a shudder when applying the brakes. I still have good amount of brake pad left. Do i A put new rotors and leave the old brake pads. B Leave brake pads and resurface the rotors. C change both brake pads and rotors?

    You can do:
    A and won't have a problem
B and won't have problem unless your rotors are already below spec.
C and you will have all new. Which will cure any minute' issues that might come about.

In other words....if you are tight on the money do A or B. C if you have the funds to spare.

If you have the cash "C". resurfacing only temporarily fixes the problem...sooner rather than later it starts to warp again..Pads only would help if you were short on cash...

C is the best option IMO...

I hate do a job 2 times wrong rather than right once...pads could be glazed/cracked etc...if they rotors are warped it was hard braked enough to get the rotors to warp...so who knows what it has done to the pads...

FYI. Rotors to do not "warp". Brake material inbeds (contaminates) the rotor which causes a slick spot that is felt when braking. Further more, rotor DO NOT "warp" from braking too hard.

Not to say they don't glaze but they certainly will warp also. Check them on the lathe.
Hard braking? Nah. Hard braking and charging into water.....oh hell yeah.

I'm no expert. I'll concede. Sure looks like a warp when turning rotor.
But to O.P. it certainly is better to replace both. You'll have better brakes when you need them.

Check if the pads are glazed, cracked, with chunks missing, etc. If the pads are OK visually, A or B would be fine.

For people in bad financial circumstances, it's OK to even get brake pads from salvage yard vehicles, provided you inspect the pads.

Swapping pads is one of the easiest things to do on this gen Tacoma. Take the tire off, remove the retaining clip and pins, remove the pads, insert 'new' pads, replace pins and retaining clip, put tire back on...
