There's one problem: Not that many people have side air bags on pre '09's. I would've had to wait 3 months if I wanted airbags vs. 3 minutes for mine. It sucks because side airbags should've been made standard equipment a long time ago, not just now.

I agree with Wilson, the side airbags should have been standard equipment long ago. You shouldn't have to be rich or wait months to buy a safe vehicle.

I wouldn't buy a Tacoma unless it came with the side curtain airbags. You know what? I did in Dec of 05 on my 2006 DC Sport. Even our 04 Highlander has it. Safety 1st!

Mine has the side airbags and everything else as well.. I waited 4 months because they were a must in my opinion. Nice to know I waited for a good reason.

I suppose. I've never had side airbags in any vehicle and I'm still here. Would I rather have them? I guess, but not badly enough to wait 3 months.

Actually the trade off for me wasn't a big deal. Since mine is an 05 and I wanted the OR package with VSC and everything I would of had or order mine anyway. My dealer didn't have any Tacoma's at the time since I was one of the first few. Since I was working with fleet I said what the heck and ordered everything and just waited. Gave me a chance to sell my other vehicle as well.

Oh I got the side air bags because I have small kids and it only takes one side impact accident to have the air bags pay for themselves.
