I believe you can use OME 885 as well for this application. You may have to adjust notch position on the shock for a somewhat softer spring if you want to maintain a level stance on the truck.

The reason people are using the 2887 is because it is what that is what ARB OME recommends. Here is a link to the 2016+ Tacoma press release for ARB OME http://www.arbusa.com/Uploads/PDF/newProductAdvice/2016/OME_2016_On_Toyota_Tacoma.pdf

That being said, you can use the 884, 885, 886, 887, 888 for different amounts of lift and depending on your application (load in front ect). What was the part number for your 5100s. Are they the 05-15 or 16+ 5100s?

Though you are correct, I have heard stories of the strut spring seat blowing out when set to high. If anything, a top spacer from 1/4 to 1inch would be best to deal with sagging. The OME springs are a lot longer and even though they are weighted less, it is best not to set the 5100 higher than the 0 notch. I have heard of members successfully using the 5100 with OME springs on the first and even second notch. Though i would never do it, some have been successful with it.

Thank you for the info. Right now everything is stock on it and I don't have any immediate plans to change anything in front.

I purchased the ones for the 16+ (
    24-263108).

Well the 2885 should give you about 2 inches of lift but will sag a lot over time. Due to the weight difference of the 2016 the 2885 isn't the best choice unless you plan on the sag.

The 2885 is 15.5512 inches (395mm) in height where the 2887 has a 15.7448 inch (400mm) height, both have a 500 foot-pound spring rate. The extra .25 inches give you the extra height you need to keep a solid 2.5 to 3-inch lift. The 2885 will give you around a 2.5 to 2-inch lift and sag over time. Right now, I have the same Bilstein 5100s as you but with the 2887 spring. It is starting to settle a bit and is giving me around a 2.75 ish inch lift. it feels great and more like a truck now. The ride is a little stiffer but not by much compared to the stock TRD OR springs and struts. They really help off-road and look super cool :p. I'm sure whatever spring you decide to go with, you will be happy. I just went with the 2887 cus that is what ARB OME recommend for the 2016+ Tacoma.

Here is the link where i got the spring height and weight info: http://www.arbusa.com/Uploads/PDF/onlineManualsGuides/OME_Guide_current.pdf it is on page 136.

hope this helps a little. PM me or reply if you need any more help.

Mine arrived yesterday, so I tossed them on this morning. It was a productive 45 minutes.

3rd notch for a 1" lift, very even wheel gap all the way around.
Contemplated some new wheels and tires too..

The ride is much better than the factory hitachi shocks, not as bouncy anymore!
I'll snag better pictures next time I go out.

Ever so slightly harsher over bumps, similar to a TRD OR, but then much less bouncing after that.

It always felt as if the factory SR5 shocks were too soft on rebound. The truck never felt in control on bouncy back roads. I never had an issue with their jounce, however.
Now it's very good overall. Looking forward to putting a few more miles on it.
I wasn't sure what I would expect with the factory springs, so I planned to do my suspension upgrade in stages.
Going to leave it like this a while and maybe down the line add a leaf to the back and go with aftermarket front springs for another inch of lift overall.

My FJ was set at 3" on 6112's up front and 5100s in back, it was a tad harsher than the Tacoma is now, and My lower back is happy with the decision stick to a small lift and better ride.

Very nice. Goof info. I have a stock 2016 sport suspension in the garage and an inch and half spacer to go on top. AAL for the rear. Debating on upgrading the shocks and dumping the spacer.

Got a slightly clearer shot after about 80 miles of driving since installing them.

Also decided to show anyone looking to lift their truck that the driveline angles are going to be pretty minimal. Diff drop likely won't be needed until a 3" lift is installed. This is my truck with only 1" front lift. Stock rear height.

Just curious, I didnt see in your previous posts, did you also get a 1/4" leveling spacer? Do you notice any lean with or without?

I like this, I'm in your situation, I have and SR5 4x4 and just looking to level it. I'll probably be using stock springs with the 5100s. Thanks for the reference pics, they will come handy when deciding the notch setting on mine.

    Just shocks. Nothing else.
I didn't have any lean before so I didn't buy the spacer.
If it develops a lean, I'll buy one and jam it in there.

    all tore up already
lean spacer is because factory springs are side specific. if you didnt change springs you dont need one

Got my 3rd gen 5100s and HS AAL on today! Here are a few photos. I will take some better ones soon when its not snowing. I will also get some new measurements tonight. When we lowered it down from the lift its was level all around (38.5") and the front got 3" (Set at the 2" setting) I am sure it settled a bit after driving it around some. Thanks Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road for the great products!

How's the truck since (if) you have had a chance to drive it more? Did you keep the overload in? Looks great!
