Found a 2002 1st gen that runs great and has all records. Only problem is the color. Wondering how much it would cost to sand down and re-paint?

    Thanks.

Contact a body shop... that's the only way to get an accurate quote.

Depends on what you want and how "good" of a job you want...

But, you can probably get away with $75 in rattlecanz from Walmart if you're down:rofl:

I had my 2002 extra cab reprinted about a year ago. The clear coat was gone in many places and the paint was just awful. Found a place that did a great job for just under $3,000. It looks good as new. Just have too look around, some places were giving me estimates up to $5,000. I even went to Macco where they wanted $1,100, but heard to many bad stories about them. Just gotta call up a few places and find a price you like.

How long ago did you get the "great job" done? And what color? I'm reading a lot that the coats don't stay.

Last December about one year ago. The shop used quality paint and considering it also the place local PA and delivery services take there vehicles to be repaired and repainted, I considered there work to be good. Plus paint and clear coats will last depending on how much they are exposed to the sun and how often you wash a ND wax your truck for Uv protection.

If you are swapping color figure 4500 minimum and up from there for a good job. Jambing and engine bays cost bucks to do

Changing paint colors costs alot more then when applying the same paint color.
Prep, paint quality and application are critical for a durable long wearing paint finish.

Only a paint/body shop can give you a real estimate.

    Generically guessing... $ 5000. ^ -- ( how much are ya willing to spend ? )

I'd just rattle can it or maybe Plastic Dip that sucker and call it a day.

If ya spray it with PD... You can peel it back off...
and choose another color when you grow bored with it.

I was going to get my 2003 double cab done here in small town Illinois and decided against it till I get to a larger city. One place wanted over 9k and another wants 5.5-6k. This is to keep it the same color also. Went the plastidip route and couldnt be happier for the time being.

John Deere black and shoot it yourself with a HF HVLP. A couple hundred bucks +- for it all,,scuff, mask and single part paint thinned just a bit. Toss the gun when you are done. A little bit of reading before anything and your shooting color and primer in one. There rattle cans match up to the quart cans of the same color for touch up. Green, yellow or Black. It's the easiest "price of admission" to shooting your own color and you would definitely have a better job than Macco if you apply yourself. No heated painting booth?,,HF has the enclosed 10x17 for cheap. Toss it when you are done. Your still ahead.

I'm repainting mine but just the outside I told them to scuff it and spray it they said 900$ with 5 year warranty that's no engine bay or anything like that. all that is what cost the most. unless you rip it apart yourself and have it ready to paint. I different color is big bucks same color is a lot less
