I have been running lights on my car roof racks for just about 15 years and never had a problem.

Getting our tree tomorrow and weather permitting the truck will be decorated too!!! Can't wait.. No more power inverter and cord running out the window!!!

I was thinking of hanging lights Off the bed of the truck along the sides think they will scratch the truck.

I'd be afraid of scratches. or some assist in a lot grabbing the loose ends as they walked past.

I would think they could scratch, along with the previous mentioned. If you do not have a top you could run them on the inside of the bed between the four corners using the adjustable cleats as hook points. I am not sure how visible they would be but they would be off the paint.

For those interested in doing this....go with LEDs. When our trucks are in motion, the inverter defaults from 400 watts to 100 watts. Incandescent bulbs pull a lot of power. A 50 count string probably pulls 40 watts or so. If you want to go with more than that, you may find it won't work.

On the other hand....my 50 count LED string pull just over 3 watts.

Mine are on the roof so I am not sure. I believe I read people are using zip ties and looping them through holes in the clear tracks.

Yes, plug it in the outlet, turn the truck on and push the button. :)

Mine are zip-tied to the cleats...I have 6 of them. There are also holes in the side rails where I also zip-tied. I balled up some electrical tape and jammed it in the front rail in 3 spots and zip-tied the string there. The non plug end is zip-tied to the back left bed tie down.

Just plug 'em up. I would unplug them if it's raining....only because the manual stresses the importance of not getting water in the outlet.

    BTW....I went with a 16' string

Get a 16' string and some medium length zip-ties. You'll quickly figure out what you need to do
