This makes me sad, I'm guessing my installed 285s are not going to measure up.

Expect almost 31" bfg has been getting away with this for years. Tire manufacturers have a 7% size variation for whatever size is printed on the sidewall. 7% variation on a 33" tire could be quite a lot

I'm guessing they just use some sleezy standard for measuring height, like pre-loaded, or pre-inflated, or some other measurement that is useless to real customers.

LOL shit Def isn't made like it use to be at times I'm overwhelmed with the technology into this truck. crawl control and all the other shit. don't get me wrong I love it ,but it seems like there is so much that can go wrong . plus these days the whole planned obsolete aspect. Nothing is made to last . shit just breaks so the big guy can make money back in repairs .

Couldn't agree more. The more I build out my truck, the more I'd love to toss the electronics and plastic and replace everything with mechanical and metal. You can add all the quality you want but if the foundation isn't there it'll never last.

This truck was definitely solid, had all the "old time" stuff; solid front axle, locking hubs, virtually no electronics. This photo was pre lift, I went with a 3.5" lift and various sets of 33" tires with no rub. Actually "borrowed" a buddies set of 35" monster mudders and ran for awhile on road only with very little rub. I keep hoping to find one of these to restore, someday.

I'm sticking with getting just the leveling kit for the front. my mechanic said with the suspension lift ,not only is it expensive you gota than buy bugger tires so it doesn't look gay as fuck. and told me that problems can arise after lifting a vehicle

Sounds like you need to find a new mechanic lol Lift it right and you'll never have any issues. If you go 6" on stock tires, yeah it'll look silly. Go 3" and you'll be fine until you get bigger tires. With that said, why lift it at all if you don't want bigger tires?

Yeah true. I do work out of it so I can't go to big. would like some more clearance though . maybe just a 4" suspension lift. idk I don't know shit about this stuff yet and I'm honestly happy with how it is. just want to get rid of the chrome . and would like to get new exaust . want a nice mean sound to it

No such thing as a nice mean sound from this little 3.5 SO far, stock sounds better than anything aftermarket I've heard. I'm lifted 3" with a 285/75/16 which is basically a 33x11.25 just as an example for you.

Best thing to do is listen to exhaust clips on youtube. Some people love the aftermarket stuff, some don't. What lift are you looking at?
